Felipe Pepe released another sneak preview on his CRPG book. This time with a review for the relative unknown RPG gem Tale of Wuxia.

Felipe on Twitter:

There's a BR article on how modern games are dull circulating online. Not all, you just need to look beyond the hype. Like Tale of Wuxia.
From Steam:

About The Game

Tale of Wuxia is a role-playing and single-player PC game, made by Phoenix Games and Heluo Studio. Added lots of new stories, gameplays and systems, it is a new version of Legends of the Wulin. The game engine used by Tale of Wuxia is U3D.

Tale of Wuxia has been dedicated to providing gameplayers with a player-defined platform, where they can customize their own Wuxia. Instead of being restricted to characters’ basic properties and martial arts, in this new version, gameplayers can also choose the personalities and talents of their own. The new talent system makes characters more distinctive. For example, the hard workers are good at monotonous missions, the slyboots prefer changeable missions, while the jade trees are more popular among girls. Different talents come with different gameplays, greatly increasing the fun in playing.

  1. Stories on game maps are equipped with many new systems, picturing a more free and real Wuxia world. Furthermore, the ultimate fun lies in character progression.
  2. There are more interaction between characters, even NPCs have their own emotions.
  3. Multiple endings.
  4. Lots of hidden stories needed unlock by special conditions.
  5. Added lots of new stories.
  6. The number of girls a character can have relationship with has been increased to more than 10.
The current version contains a free DLC - The Return of Devaraja
More information.

Is this one: http://games.tecmundo.com.br/notici...orfaos-jogos-marcantes-refens-hype_825731.htm

The core of it is a guy ranting on how the modern generation is garbage because Fallout 4, Uncharted 4, and all these AAA games ended up disappointing and forgettable - he claims the only memorable game this generation is Twitcher 3.

Which is already bullshit - that's only partially true if you're only following AAA releases. We had a lot of really good games in the past years.

is attitude is basically "if I haven't heard about it, it doesn't exist".

Worst, he then goes on a blind nostalgia rant on how previous generations had only amazing games (yet he cites mediocrities like Ni No Kuni and Alan Wake), and that now there are too many games and too little quality...

Eh, it's just a dumb article, but it's getting A LOT of shares among BR gamers.

The only thing I'd heard about the game up till this point was that people had issues with the translation. I'll give it another look.
Yeah, the translations is somewhat of a mess.... it starts ok, but gets worse as you go. It seems like it's actually a mix of fan/crowd--sourced translation with a professional guy behind.

But every patch improves it a bit, so you might jut wait if you're undecided.

Bullshit it is. But sorry, I'll disagree with you on why.

From my standpoint, FO4 is not forgettable. After crash-o-rama FO3 and with norespawn mod, FO4 impressed me by not being utterly broken as previous Bethesda games, in fact it makes FO3 forgettable.
Uncharted 4? Sorry man, I've never heard about that thing. I bet it's a phonegame.
But unlike your argument on "never heard", I believe if a game is great, then it's available on PC - if it's so bad noone would buy it on PC, there is no such game on PC. A title Uncharted 4 does not exist on PC.
The only exception is Red Read Redemption, a game that never came on PC, and according to many, it's so good it would have sold like a cure.

Not mentioned recent AAA games that are definetly not forgettable, I'll miss a few carracing/quasisports titles:
- MGS5; noone can unsee it's horrible MMO part that on PC luckily can be disabled, otherwise a blueprint how an engine/game can be designed to look great, work smoothly and have a good UI on all platforms
- TR and RotTR (TR reboot); once you step into these you won't ever forget 'em, not because of spectacular graphics and hair, not because quality environment puzzles, not because again a good UI on all platforms, not because again rubbish but optional MMO part, but because new Lara gets tortured every few minutes both by trashmobs and by nature - without anything being censored, find me another almost torture porn game where your "hero" gets constantly beaten like a dog
- Batman: Arkham Knight; hopefully you've never bought this thing on PC but saw youtube reviewer videos instead, it's PC version dethroned AC:Unity from the top of the most broken releases on PC of all times and that's something impossible to forget
- GTA5; can't be forgotten being most overhyped need for speed rubbish with a story mediocre product and seems impossible to fix by mods horrible helicopter controls, only rolleyes reaction does it justice
- Watch Dogs; impossible to forget deliberate disabling of visual spectacle on PC by it's publisher just because it'd look so much better than versions on inferior hardware, luckily modders "fixed" this otherwise it'd be forgettable as it's one of most boring games ever

The Witcher 3 is not the only unforgettable game, but is a good example how to become one. It's music, story, quests, lore, openworld style and map, save system and usual stuff aside. Once you fight all those furry different trashmobs, once you see furry caps on NPCs, you don't want to see ever again crappy stretching textures that pose as hair but look like shit. TW3 is currently the only game that has that.

I adore wuxia in movies/series/comics. I loved an old game that's very close to it - Jade Empire. But Jade Empire shown how hard is to provide wuxia experience on PC. The same reason why I don't play sports "emulators", because it's just not the same feeling as the real thing.

I've heard about Tale of Wuxia. Sadly, only about it's numerous bugs.

Thank you for the link, Felipe! I wanna read it because of the ease of the language (BR) :)

I'm brazilian and, yep, the article is full of crap. To use "forgettable" as a category for analisys is pretty stupid, too. While I understand that every critique is subjetive, "forgettable" is as far from objectivity as you can get. He could have said "games today are mechanically awful" and he would only be wrong in the "I only count AAA games" department.

While Alan Wake is a friggin Steam monstrosity Ni No Kuni is IMHO one of the best games of the last console generation.

And this is coming form someone who plays since 1985 and normally is very critical of the most console games.

BUT. THAT. COMBAT.

It's just horrible... you spend more time baby-sitting your useless companions than actually fighting... D:
