The action RPG Yaga will be released in 2019:

Yaga

Play as Ivan, a one-handed blacksmith cursed with incredible bad luck.
Ivan is caught between a Tzar giving him impossible tasks, a mysterious witch who wants to manipulate him, and his grandma who wants him to find a wife.
Start your journey in an action RPG where the story and characters react to the way you roleplay your character.

  • Building a reputation through roleplaying results in different interactions with villagers and NPCs, unlocking secrets, trading options, or bestowing game-changing curses or blessings upon the player character.
  • Pagan beliefs and superstitions are key to unlocking hidden secrets, getting house spirits on your side, or avoiding the powerful curses of unclean creatures.
  • Fateful Crossroads between levels allow the player to influence the difficulty, challenge and level generation of the game
  • Discover and combine lots of talismans and artifacts that change the player's abilities and the gameplay
  • Craft and upgrade an arsenal of weapons and tools to aid you in your journeys.
  • Unique Soundtrack featuring underground folklore band Subcarpati.
More information.

Finally, a game with a pre-made protagonist whose name I can stand behind!

On a serious note, it is refreshing to see a 2D game that is not pixel art. I love the art style!

Let's see… Didn't open/close/ignore4good this topic only because @Ivanwah; suggests it's not yet another incapability/antitalent advertised as retro:

- So it's indie - without pixelart? Nice change.

- Onehanded MC who's also blacksmith? Good, no "whose is bigger" 2H swords and war hammer bullshit but prosthetics instead. Plus there is a valid excuse for crafting.

- Story and NPCs react to your choices? And also unlock secrets and spirits of different "morality" (?) to aid MC… But of course this is indie and not Electronic Arts shallow bullshit shooter.

“Role-playing as a leveling-up tool” is something we hold dear. Lots of games include a reputation system, but we want perks and character abilities to become available based on how you play the game. Staying consistent in your personality yields increasing bonuses, but breaking out of your personality in critical plot points results in huge bonuses by creating narrative character arcs.

- Wait… Perks with + and - appearing throughout the story? Oh, here's an example:

- Crazy music in the trailer is apparently from the game and for whatever reason, I like it.

- Humor is in!

- No mmo/coop bullshit. On top of it:

It is sandbox / surivval game?

No, not a sandbox, and not a survival game :)

- According to the official site https://yaga-game.com/ the game, except on PC, will be released on three consoles (PS, XB, NS) but no phones. Yay! Had to check as I don't want overrated and overhyped Banner Saga clones on my PC.

- A comic on how MC lost his hand:

Even if it'll maybe suck, this game is instabuy for me.

Normally, I pay little attention to trailers, but this one had some style. Wishlisted because I liked the music. Will give it a proper look at release.

Well done trailer. Romanian developer with phone games history and love for roguelikes. Interesting, but no high hopes on my side.
