What games are you playing now?

Personally, I found Drakensang (both games) to be among the most bugfree ones I had ever encountereed - and because of that I was quite surprised that there had been Patches for both.

I did a weekend's beta-testing ( 2 days, in ffact) for Drakensang 2, and yes, there were bugs. And yes, they were gone in the final game.

But I think that this is also a case of personal perception.

Now I have to decide between Drakensang 2, Divinity 2 : DKS, or Alpha Protocol. I think I'll play the latter for a break from fantasy.

Yeah, after Drakensang 2 I'm take a break from fantasy as well and will play Deus Ex. HR

Oops, I forgot, need to play the Blackguards and Divinity early access!

Really hating the checkpoint save system in Alpha Protocol, BTW. Playing a non-lethal takedown sneaker type, and it's starting to get easier for me. Pretty challenging and fun.

Errrrr you can't really play AP in non-lethal stealth style. At least not consistently like you could do it in Dishonored . Sooner or later this game forces you to go gun blazing and blowing up shit whatever you like it or not.

Those parts would be horribly designed bosses.Really low point of AP.

You really don't need the unofficial fixpack to enjoy the epicness of Drakensang games, but for nitpickers who'll spot a smallest glitch like me, it's a nice thing to have. And it wasn't hard to make it since, as you said, the original game was almost bugfree unlike The goty (cap. is intended) where bugfixing by modders can take decades.

Really hating the checkpoint save system in Alpha Protocol, BTW.
That's the reason I've never bought it nor will. Regardless ppl thinking I'd buy anything from BiS/Obsidian.
Such savesystems should stay away from PC.

Drakensang No. 1 died on me right before the final boss, and the last save had been aeons before. After I fought my way back to the point where the final boss should have come, the game froze once again. That's when I uninstalled Drakensang. I never bought any addons or the second game after this. Overall it was an okay game IMO, but I hate it when games suicide.

The last games I remember doing that to me were SiN and Nemesis (the Wizardry Adventure). The SiN bug was patched pretty soon, though.

Yep, I had the same bug. But before that it was pretty stable. At least it has a save system so you don't lose much ground if you quicksave often. I'm a saveaholic that's eXperiencing severe DTs with AP. ;)

Been playing the Divinity: Original Sin alpha.

I think it's going to be a really good game when it's finished. Even in its alpha state, I'm having a lot of fun with it. The environment is extremely interactive as Larian promised it would be, and exploration is very enjoyable.

There is also very little hand-holding in this game. In fact, I've even been a bit frustrated by how large the first town is and the fact that buildings aren't labeled on the map and there are no quest markers. That won't be a problem in the finished game as I can see we'll have the ability to write our own notes on the map.

I'm not sure how I feel about the dialogue system though. Controlling two characters and having them talk to each other while choosing the replies for both feels a bit odd. I can see how it would be cool in multiplayer, but in singleplayer it just feels redundant to me.

Sounds good. About the Dialogue system: Larian has promised to add a couple of A.I options for your companion if I am not mistaken (I guess you pick one as your main character ?). So you would pick a personality i.e. for the female char and the game would fill out the responses? Obviously not in the Alpha if it is indeed coming. Not 100% sure though…

Edit: Ah yes they mention the AI personalities in the last paragraphs of update #8. I hope this was not scrapped because this is how I intend to play. They seem to have kept quite a few features under wrappers in the Alpha, (i.e. companions NPC schedules etc. etc.) understandable I guess. I imagine the Beta will give us a clearer picture of how things stand in regards to these features…

Cool, I had forgotten about that feature. Yeah, I will most definitely be using it in the final version.

I can say with confidence that Divinity: OS is a Day 1 purchase for me.

Civilization 5 Brave new world (was prepared to be disappointed but like it much more than I initially thought I would). I also play Warlock Master of the arcane and Pandora First contact. While Warlock is a fine passing time game I find Pandora a little bit disappointing as I was hoping much more weird stuff to find on its maps. I find it a little more boring than expected but its still a fine game :)

I messed with the alpha for D:OS too, but I'm playing Skyrim. Skyrim is an addiction for me and I have a hard time playing anything else when it is active. I was kinda surprised by D:OS' lack of upgrade in the graphics department. It really doesn't look much better than DKS. That has been the only negative though in what little I've seen. The game looks pretty stable and I found using spells on terrain for various effects to be quite cool. I'm a first person guy by choice though, so my lack of love for the view of D:OS is biased.

Been throwing an insane amount of hours to my Baldur's Gate 1 playthrough.

Ended up (in all my wisdom) doing the entire Durlag's Tower area in one ~9hour go, not least because I went there fairly early, my thief had terrible trap detection skills and my party inventory was maxed by the time I got to the 2nd floor of the tower way before any dungeon romping started.

I'm now mostly done with all the side content that I could find from all the areas of the game. Still in chapter 7 but I'll shortly be able to focus entirely on the main quest. Given that each one of the 30+ areas takes at least 30 minutes and the city of Baldur's Gate took about 10 hours to fully explore I'm confident that the game is significantly bigger than DA:O and I expect to clock at least 50-60 hours.

Not sure if it's the game or my determination though. I can hardly say I'm blown away (or expect to be by the main quest).

Currently playing Severence: Blade of Darkness - what a game! To describe it I can say Dark Souls proparly made for PC. Read below to see why.

Graphics are top notch and best I have seen considering that this game was released in 2000 - textures, shadows, hit detection is the best I have seen and puts many new PC games to shame.

The combat is one of the best that I have seen - for a game developed in 2000 with near perfect hit detection in third person and severs the correct hit limb is just extraordinary!

The Atmosphere is brilliant and is dark and isolated, very similar to Dark Souls. The nice thing about it as well is that you can run away from enemies if you wish or lure them to ledges, lava spots to kill them. It is NOT your typical: enter area, hidden wall appears, kill enemies, hidden wall dissapears - it has a similar design to Dark Souls except that each region or castle (which is huge) are not connected.

You level up as you kill more enemies. This means that you can handle weapons with increasing power and you also increase you defence.

Progression is excellent. Just when you think that you found your ideal weapon, you stumble upon something better. There are many weapons that give you different combos. Weapons are also specific to the character that you are playing. For example, I am playing as a knight and he specialises in one handed weapons and shields - so he sucks with two handed weapons (which is the speciality of the Barbarian).

I have been playing it for 3 weeks now and still not finished - I would say that I have spent about 25 hours so far.

It has huge reply value as each character you choose at the beginning (there are 4 of them) has a different beginning, different story, and different weapons and moves.

This game is a masterpiece that puts most current action/adventure games into shame. If you think that you are good at Dark Souls, then try Blade of Darkness - I dare you! Just be warned, it is not for the faint hearted

The GoG version is pretty good as it includes the opengl and glide drivers for modern systems - and it is on sale now.
