Assassin's Creed Origins - Reviews

Grow some skin over your butt, bruh.

Or just remove the skin that covers your eyes and put it on your butt. ;)

Lol, that second one though...

Thank you, I actually needed that laugh. I'm having a rough night.

Problem is a crack will most like circumvent the DRM, not remove it. So performance likely won’t change and we won’t know it’s impact for sure unless Ubi removes it which will probably happen…. never.

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier I’m not seeing any high cpu usage. Avg 25%. Also getting smooth 60 FPS @ 3440x1440. I do see some stuttering in cutscenes however. So it’s not happening on all systems.

5930k@4.8Ghz 6c/12t, titan x (pascal), 32GB ram.

Is anyone one or more of your cores CPU busy? Just curious.

I really want to get this game for PC since most of my gaming is done while I travel for work and that means playing it on my gaming laptop but it only has 4 cores (i5).

The issue internet is talking about, CPU hammering and FPS drops way below 60 is not constant. So if you really want the game on PC, do buy it, but don't expect smooth experience through all of it.

FRAPS is active on my machine trying to pinpoint any pattern when the choke happens and what's causing it (so far no luck except seeing it in most of cutscenes) and in my case I've seen FPS drops to almost 40.
Just one thing. Do not trust Ubi PR.

There is another thing noone, even reviewers, are talking about and it's horse/camel speed. Sometimes mounts charge as if we're playing Blood Dragon, sometimes they barely move and it's not Galapagos turtle we're riding. The cause is realtime scenery loading. Sometimes it's very slow the engine makes a compromise and slows your character (or mount) and I'm playing the game on SSD so this is pretty odd considering I didn't experience such thing in other openworlds including Ubi's WD2.

Oddly (or not) this crawl-o-rama never happens when you're riding a boat.
And I don't know if the same thing happens on consoles, as I said, I didn't see any reviewer even mentioning this.

We should start review reviewers it seems. I know some people cant spot a difference between 30 and 60 FPS (brain damage perhaps?), but another thing I also didn't see in reviews I've breezed through. Motion blur. That distracting bullshit is in the game and there is no way to disable it. On any platform.

Some people are joking that Ubisoft is mining bit coins on the side while you are playing the game hence the CPU spikes!

It would be so low, but since gamers' hardware is the best for scamcurrency mining honestly it wouldn't surprise me if Ubi actually did that.
But it can't be as the game has 100% CPU usage even when you're offline. I wish it was the cause as then disconnecting would fix the problem. :(

The first patch is live and I've instantly spotted something - sidequests that disappeared from my map are now back (available to take). Mainly it's Cat's Cradle and Phylakitai in the Eye in Alexandria (city). If you're playing the game, check all regions you thought previously cleared, there is most probably a sidequest or two now reenabled!
Oddly, seems this fix is not written in the patch log.

The patch addresses many things - but they forgot to even mention CPU hammering issue.

40% was the highest but I only played an hour or so and I’m don’t think my result will relate to yours since our systems are so different.

Too bad this is a problem as the game is fun, I’ll get more time to play this weekend and update.

Streamers simply love it.
As it is a streamer friendly vid product, as it happens very often, viewers play the same product as the streamer they watch does. And they absolutely love it.

Excellent product made and thought for streamers.
Streamers enjoy playing it, their viewers enjoy playing it while watching their favourite streamer enjoy playing it. Both sides can speak of their experience, exchange tips, great value to build community feelings.

This game needs tips? O_O
On what for god's sakes. The game is unbelievably easy(peasy) except some endgame content but streamers are not endgame.
Who's streaming it? Former Farmville drones who never saw a proper game in their life?

Ah I know. I bet tips are about what area is the best turd to get thousands of flies and cash in on viewercounter.

Your memory is rather poor. The removal of the DRM was swift (within first week I think). Yes witcher 2 has a lot of other issues some of which were never solved (so does witcher 3) but that is not related to my comment.

The link you provided is related to a different lawsuit unrelated to drm lawsuit. I could not find the results of that lawsuit.

TW2 had lots of issues with the launcher that they included with the initial release. It was sort of related to DRM because you had to make an account, register your game, log in and e.g. if you were a CE owner then the launcher should have theoretically given you access to your preorder rewards etc.

They never got it working though (login & registration & validation errors galore), and after a few days of very amateurish looking attempts to fix it, they went 'fuck it', removed the launcher, gave everyone access to preorder/CE items etc. and removed the DRM in the process, too, which got them that lawsuit from Namco (which Namco won by the way).

You are right about the lawsuit but how is my memory poor otherwise? You said "within first week I think". I said "after a few days". Big difference? I think not.

I very vividly remember the launcher issues because I was one of the morons who preordered the CE of TW2 and was not able to access my stuff or play the game in the first few days for prolonged periods of time.

It was like a MMO launch. It was obvious that their backend could not handle the onslaught of thousands of gamers trying to register their games. The launcher failed to connect, hung for minutes, crashed, was not able to download CE/preorder items correctly... you name it.

It was a complete clusterfuck and they did a very poor job of fixing the issues by releasing sometimes several launcher patches per day that fixed one issue but introduced three other bugs.
Removing the launcher was absolutely the best course of action in terms of customer friendliness. It was obviously broken beyond salvation.

I haven't made and won't make the mistake of preordering a CDP game ever again though. Enhanced Edition for me please even if it means a bit more waiting.

Streaming is different from video making.

Streaming usually includes high difficulty settings and completion. Streamers are about endgame content. For this product, streamers offer their viewers a 100 pc completion run. Following a streamer means seeing all the product has to deliver.

As to being easy, it is part of streamers'demand.
One part is that products can be played on the highest difficulty settings without requiring specific experience of the product (in other words, no product can be hard)
Another part is that products do not hinder progression, progression must flow as streamers do not want what is called backseating (that is viewers telling how to play, how to solve situations)

Tips are not about difficulty since this product is streamer friendly. They are about improving experience, it can go from cosmetic features to avoiding glitches etc

IMO preordering was not a mistake. What matters is fast patching and CDP does exactly that. There is no wait till doomsday for patches that never come (officially).

I honestly don't know what are you talking about.
The game is utterly easy even on hard setting because of Ubi's insist on microtransactions not because of streaming. Except elephants, but even them seem to become trivial if you nick certain item(s) from the lootbox. Everything else is so 5year old kid friendly till you get to elephants and start thinking hell for hard I need that lootbox weapon/shield obtainable only through lootbox.

What progression? There is no puzzle tough to crack or a mystery you'd need to pause a little and think what to do next. There is no challenge.

What glitches are you even talking about? Certain sidequests not appearing was fixed with the patch. Other glitches you solve yourself by restarting the game (phylaks or base captains not appearing on the map) or by reverting the quest step. I think I've posted that and more the very same day the game was released.

Did your PC streamers even talk about specific issues this game has on PC? Like how to set hair/beard back on the protagonist?

But how can you possibly "experience" any of it from silly streams? Nohow.
How can I, and I didn't finish the main story yet? This is how:

Elex easy difficulty is harder and more satisfying than ACO hard difficulty. Elex is life.

What joxer said about patching. I have a high degree of confidence that some companies will make their product 'right' even if buggy on release. Other companies have shown a total willingness to drop a product on the floor. I don't feel a need to list examples in the two categories.

Okay now I feel a need to apologize.
I promised I won't get irritated that easily on his "stream spectacle" obsession, but it triggered the explosion because of idiocies like this one from eurogamer who finished the game and says this about the game finale:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...d-origins-guide-walkthrough-tips-4849?page=13
Last of the Medjay, Fall Of an Empire, Rise of Another and Birth of the Creed and are the nineteenth and twentieth quests you'll encounter in Assassin's Creed Origins, which have you tackle the final pieces of the conspiracy…

Watch the cutscene, and then get out there and finish off the million and one things that are likely still littering your map!
I was rolling my eyes like never before. Still am.

I'm not telling anyone how to play a game, some people like quickies, but this is the only AC game that has sidequests done right. Eurogamer's fastrunning is IMO fail.
While I can't possibly take a screenshot of my map where there is absolutely no thing "littering" or being unexplored (or at least I think so) I can show something else and that's the number of completed quests (which is a total of cca 20 main quests and just calculate how many sidequests):

pic.jpg

So I'm sorry.
Enjoy streams as much as you want. I'll try to stay cold on it and focus my frustration on it's actual source.
ACO is not Santa Barbara where you saw everything if you watched just one episode among them 2000. Eurogamer and mainstream sites suggest it is.

Watching streams is for gathering information to determine what kind of products is shown.

It helps to avoid enjoying vid products that are meant for streamers first.

Man, when I visit a page named pornhub or xxxhub or something, I don't need to watch stream to know what is it about.
