Chris Wynn, senior development director for Mass Effect: Andromeda, has left both the project and Bioware.

Thanks, Couch.

Chris Wynn, the senior development director for Mass Effect: Andromeda, has announced he's left both the project and Bioware. He tweeted out the news on December 22nd:

As of this time, no reason have been given for his departure from the studio.

Before working on Bioware's sci-fi RPG series, Wynn worked on franchises like Gears of War and Madden. He has not revealed if he has any new projects lined up.

Update: Bioware has issued a statement concerning Wynn's departure: "Chris was a great member of the team. We want to thank him for his contributions and we wish him the best in his new adventures. Development of Mass Effect Andromeda continues to move full speed ahead at BioWare Montreal, Edmonton and Austin."

Good riddance.

You sure? I thought it was Montreal...

No, wait, I'm crazy, in Montreal, any company, there is supertalent only.
So he definetly wasn't there.

Well they have three different studio's that I know of.

Link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioWare

BioWare Edmonton - The original BioWare studio.
BioWare Austin - Formed in March 2006 to develop MMO's & other projects.
BioWare Montreal - Formed in March 2009 to assist the Edmonton studio.

I left out a few smaller studio's, and the ones that got closed down.;)

He was Senior Development Director, which is a manager position. He spent 3 years in Canada, his green card was probably up and he decided to return to the US or was forced too because his green card couldn't be extended (this almost happened to Cameron Lee during Dragon Age Inquisition development).

I wouldn't want to return to the US until after next years election … as then it might be best not to return depending on results.

Don't know him or his abilities though so no idea if this is good, bad, or neutral news for a franchise I enjoy but am pretty meh about … don't really care if any more games get made with it or not.

IMO canadians should have revoked it earlier.

While the whole thing is obviously a positive matter to me, don't think I'm not aware that EA will appoint another equally bad exec or even worse one on his position.

Certainly brings up some questions, green card or not. If this were a feature film, it's generally bad news. Means the production was being mismanaged and generally the overall quality of the movie suffers when they have to bring someone in to unfuck it.

A work visa isn't generally revoked while you still have a job so its probably not that.

Its more likely he got let go thus had the leave the country.

That's right. When the Lone Star Republic finally joined the Confederation, it became the Great White North's fifth largest province.

Have you been Edmonton? It's cold. It's flat. It's dark.

Edmonton is great, I mean, how many other cities sport a mall famous for eating people? You really could get lost in the West Edmonton Mall and never be seen again!

Work permits do not allow for permanent residency in Canada. You need to ask for an extension to increase their duration and the maximum, regardless of job, is 4 years. If you wish to stay longer, you have to ask for a permanent residency card.

If it was a Greencard, wouldn't they just say it? This official statement is more along the lines of design differences.

I've posted enough info on bioware but people just choose not to believe it. What people want is not an insider but a speculative journalist that can bake half truths into something juicy.
