It won't run for me on windows 7. The game won't even launch.
Upgrade to 10? It's free.

He wont look at the references in his reply.Upgrade to 10? It's free.
There is no UPgrade for win7. Only a sidegrade to adware/spyware windows where users are the product and sold to advertisers. Then beyond that I imagine some kind of MS Azure 100% cloud based OS. I mean, why would a Windows user even need their critical OS system files all vulnerable on local storage? That's just asking for trouble!! They'll probably delete System32 to get more ram for their minecraft server.
The only reason MS ever gave me to get the next windows version was refusing to release the latest directx on the old OS. But 2077 is dx12 on win7, anyway. Plus, I think Vulkan games run better.
Windows 7 is more than a decade old now, and Microsoft stopped supporting it in January this year. I can't really feel sorry for anyone experiencing problems because they're too stubborn to switch.
Is there a way of protecting yourself from hacks? I would google but want to stay away from spoilers.
MS hasn't stopped supporting win7.
Ok bud.
Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESU) include security updates for critical and important issues as defined by Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) for a maximum of three years after January 14, 2020. After January 14, 2020, if your PC is running Windows 7 and you haven't purchased Extended Security Updates, the computer will no longer receive security updates.
Microsoft made a commitment to provide 10 years of product support for Windows 7 when it was released on October 22, 2009. This 10-year period has now ended, and Microsoft has discontinued Windows 7 support so that we can focus our investment on supporting newer technologies and great new experiences. The specific end of support day for Windows 7 was January 14, 2020. Technical assistance and software updates from Windows Update that help protect your PC are no longer available for the product. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to Windows 10 to avoid a situation where you need service or support that is no longer available.
No more free support. They really want to get people onto win10! Is that for your good or Microsofts? If they cared about you they would offer the extended security updates for free. Instead we get forced. We get passive aggressive threats about security that use FEAR to manipulate you. We get FEAR of loss of a free copy that somehow is still available. MS can fuck off with their fear mongering tactics. If you have to pay for updates then it's obviously no longer being officially supported in the context that most people mean when they say "supported".
Or maybe for the next sci-fi dystopia RPG. Actually, Watchdogs is already pretty onto that kinda thing. As far as the other things you mention, well…that's an entirely different discussion meant for another thread.

Or perhaps you should just ditch them and roll to that Linux distro of your choice for good I hear games work on Linux too if you're willing to go through a hassle which seems like your thing.

Getting rid of our remaining Windows 7 users was big load off our shoulders. Unifying users into one platform is an excellent idea (and a big reason Apple has done the same for OSX users, and even iOS, but that's a discussion for another thread). Support one OS for millions of configurations, is EXPONENTIALLY easier, faster and more streamlined than supporting 2 of them. The build updates that are "forced" on people make it statistically better in the long run. It continues to finely tune a unified operating system with a small handful of builds to support.
People will also go on to complain about certain updates that broke their environment, but statistically, Win 10 is much more stable and problem-negative in the balance.
(see my reply about the moronity of trying to avoid the latest OS version)
There's no "moronity" in trying to avoid things you perceive as bad. Perhaps you meant "futility"?
How targeted do you like your ads?
