38 had an independent deal with Steam according to several sources. Could be wrong, of course, but there are several indicators that are more reliable than a forum post claiming inside information but not making much sense.

Eh? You don't consider TES, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, etc., to be AAA single-player crpgs? Or are you disregarding them because they were multi-platform?
