Default Divine Divinity Bookcases

September 8th, 2020, 14:59
God, I can't stop myself from reloading bookcases hundreds of times looking for spell books. I think I had 15 spells before I even hit the catacombs.

I had lightning bolt at level 4 down there. Let me tell ya, nothing stands up to that in the Catacombs. Two of them will kill the regular orcs and 5 will kill the elites. Of course, I drink restoration potions like Kool Aid.

Why just bookcases? You can savescum NPCs too and buy spellbooks from them.

I'm not saying I don't do that; especially at the barracks. For some reason, those guards will have a silver or gold charm occasionally. Nothing like getting one of those at level 9 or so.

I assume you've played it before and are using meta knowledge? Otherwise, how would you know what to save-scum for?

Eschalon is another similar game where save scumming chests can produce remarkably varied results, though I have to say I only ever did it when I felt truly frustrated at very long runs of no interesting loot. I'd never bother doing what I saw one youtuber doing and reloading ad-infinitum until he got the one exact thing he wanted. It never ceases to amaze me the stamina for mindless repetition of some people. I could never work on a production line, I'd have to starve if that was the only option.
