OOooohhhh, another console. What have we learned kiddies about consoles? Yes, that's right always 'look' at them.


Cartridge????Hmmm. Don't I have one of those. (First time through I DIDN'T look at the console and never saw what was on the cartridge. Who cared about the computers in the room. Look at that cool skimmer!!!)


And this is what's on the cartridge. BTW, in the future we got rid of all those silly DVDs or Blu-Ray disks and went back to good ol' fashioned cartridges. It turns out that 8 track tapes and cartridges are actually more advanced than CDs or DVDs ;-)

So now we know we have all the plans for a star generator right here on this cartridge. The star generator can either be used for great good or great evil. Me thinks the programmers watched a little too much Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. There is one last crucial bit of info on this cartridge. The destruct codes for the star generator. That will come in real handy in the near future.

Ok, let's hit the road in our new skimmer.


And just like the seatbelt incident in the escape pod, this skimmer is making it difficult to make a quick get away. *sigh* Let's take a look at the skimmer.

This is the tiny arcade portion of the game (even back then we had mini games within the games. Every Space Quest has some kind of arcade game in them. I love me some Astro Chicken) You have to make it to the city without taking 5 hits to your scooter from the rocks.

Glad you're enjoying this trip down memory lane. You know no matter how old these graphics get I still like playing these Sierra games every now and then. Timing is key with adventure games. Especially this tricky one. If you left the space ship without the cartridge or the gadget then your basically stuck later in the game or if you didn't put the cartridge in the computer then your stuck at the very end of the game. That was sorta cruel, imo.

Before the internet Sierra had a hint line. It was a 900 number. They must of made a few bucks off of that thing because I called it to figure out how to get past some of these areas and I know I probably wasn't the only one. When my mom found out she freaked at first and then was relieved that it was just for a silly game She actually told me to call the hint line when we played Space Quest 6 and were stuck.

Ok, now for the continuing adventures of our favorite janitor.

Too late. He saw me. These guys are everywhere. Even in tiny little settlements in the middle of nowhere on a planet no one has heard of. They're like cockroaches.

Well since we're here let's take a look around. This tiny little spacecraft looks interesting.
99 Buckazoids isn't too expensive, but that thing looks too flimsy to be able to fly in space.


This blue one looks like it could be space worthy.


105 buckazoids is a little more expensive, but he could of said 1,000,000 and I wouldn't be able to pay him. Still there is one more ship to check out. Let's head up north.


Like any true used spacecraft salesman he follows you everywhere you go.



This one looks the best, but I still don't have 214 buckazoids. I'll have to check back with him later after I find some money somehow.

And the green guy is dead again. This guy is either coming back to life and has no clue that he sucks at that game or he has a bunch of brothers that look just like him.

Cool. Slots. But the rules aren't exactly the same as Vegas. If you get those skulls you get shot. Dead. Kinda hard for repeat business.

Last we left Roger, he was being toasted to a nice shade of ash. Let's rewind and play that part again shall we. (I really really really wish that Vegas had a 'restore' button )

In case your wondering, I reloaded about a dozen times before I got enough money.
Ok round two and got some eyeballs. Not bad, a little creepy, but not bad.

After a few beers you overhear an interesting conversation that may prove useful later on in the game….well not that much later. Actually, in about 5 minutes it'll prove very useful.

What did we learn? We learned that the bad guys are in sector HH. Being the heroic janitor that we are, we are of course going to use that information to mop up the mess the bad guys created. (You gotta love a good pun or even a bad one

If your wondering why Roger is all over the place in those shots it's because you can't control him anymore. He just keeps walking/stumbling around. I tried for 10 minutes to get him out the door to no avail. Soooo rewind

As we come out of the bar (this time without drinking too much) we come across a shady looking character.


Seems he has a cool spaceship for me and all I have to do is follow him behind the bar where no one is watching. Seems ok by me. Hope he has a great deal on the latest X-Wing.
