I started replaying The Outer Worlds on Switch now that both expansions have been released (and gotten at least one patch each). I am really dedicating myself to the science weapon melee skill tree this time - earlier I had tried a more ‘charisma’ based approach with dialog skills as well as combat, and will get there eventually, but right now just got the Prismatic Hammer and am emptying rooms without breaking a sweat

Hah, I lived in Antwerp for almost 2 years, feels like forever ago now. My partner back then showed me around Brussels one day and had some headbutting with a waiter in a cafe that insisted on speaking French when she was speaking Dutch, and there was this akward back and forth in which we finally got our drinks with nobody speaking a single word in the same language. I will always remember that event as an example of how dumb human beings can get.

All in all, I enjoyed Antwerp quite a bit, a lovely place. Also learned a lot about the culture and learned the Dutch language so, despite the eventual romantic experence failure, I can tell Begium is a place I remember with certain fondness - at least the Flemmish side.

The Flemmish side has pretty towns because they take great care of them, so it must help. We do have a few nice spots in Wallonia too, though.

But yeah, as in most countries that have been glued together from different parts, there are cohesion problems. We French used to be too lazy to learn and maintain a good Dutch fluency, so there's an long-lived resentment from their part because of that, and some of them are tired of doing the effort of speaking French. The tendency is slowly reversing, it seems.

It's a silly place.

Belgium is amazingly logical and illogical, advanced and primitive and every other potential upside down way a country can be.

It's where I'm from too

Just one example. The country didn't have a government for over a year, which was longer than any other country at the time except rundown nations like Iraq.

However, everything kept on running as it was before. It only became a real problem after a whole year when the budgets weren't being approved anymore.

Yeah, I've had opportunities to return to Ireland recently, yet it kind of scares me, now. I tend to like things to remain constant, and that's a country that has altered in significant ways, perhaps too much for me. I'd also have to say that my people are mainly in the south/middle of the country, in Roscommon county, which is not Northern Ireland by any stretch of the imagination!

Enough of my rant, back to games!!~

I tried Chernobylite again for a few hours last night. I played the EA earlier this year and it didn't grab me, but I wanted to give the release version a go and see if it was much different.

It's not. I ended up uninstalling it already. I don't like games with a lot of dream-like sequences and flashbacks, and it happens constantly in Chernobylite. That, and I don't find the story or characters very interesting.

But anyway, this is a Dutch word - maybe one of the very few I still understand, the company that made the game is apparently in Holland, our northern neighbour, where Dutch is coming from.

Thanks for sharing the pics!
Ok, I have to say, I'm getting quite addicted to this game. I really love the fact I can play for 30 minutes to an hour then log off on weekdays.

Now my shop looks a lot more luxurious and I got myself a new dress too!

Yeah, remove 50+ ministers for months (why so many anyway?), and it's still running. I think we're so disorganized that even if you remove the head, it doesn't matter much

It looks like one of the simXYZ games. Or a mix between that and the Sims for the in-house arrangement, maybe?

I can relate to that. I'll refuse to speak French when in Flanders/Brussels as a customer. I made the effort to learn French, you better well give me the same courtesy. So yeah, language is historically sensitive for Belgians. Either way, nice to see some fellow country(wo)men.

To get on topic, I am still playing TW3 - started a year and half ago, and have about 300 hours - but nearing the end now. Just wrapping up all sidequest in Blood and Wine before I progress with the main quest.

After I am done, I'll probably load up KC: D.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance was really good, it scratched my action-y itch quite well, likely to the point that I can stick with turn-based games for quite some time, now. I found it a good balance with semi-real life stuff to do within the game, and bandits/missions to do when the mundane became too boring.

Talk about a slow burn.

That's a lot of hours for a single playthrough of TW3 though. I had around 160 without the expansions, and I was pretty OCD about it.

You have an actual diagnosis of OCD? Or just being ableist and minimizing the life experiences of people with actual mental health struggles?

Ehm…

Well I've chosen to dedicate this weekend to D2R. I was convinced that it will be worth it. I doubt it but… we'll see I guess.

Going with either Sorceress or Assassin, just played a bit of each to get a feel, but still undecided.

I haven't played SIMS so no idea.

You start off running the shop by ordering goods from other places (you can put in order from your counter at night or from travelling merchants during day time) but later you can unlock crafting and farming to be somewhat self sufficient. I'm specialising on cooking and tailoring but have to say, cooking has advantage because I get to grow crops myself too. I have to wait for other merchants to drop their price on raw goods to make clorhing so its a bit of a pain.

There are also events that impact your income throughout the year like recession, fair, cold weather etc.

So… nope, it's not happening. After playing a few hours it became clear that I was just grinding in a boring, obsolete game just because it was fun to play with company, but there are so many games that are better for that, and Diablo2 is not worth it at this point. So the experiment ended abruptly somewhere in Act 3.

Ah well, £40 that went to waste pretty much. C'est la vie.
