Bluesnews reports that Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed until November 19th for game balance reasons.

CD PROJECT RED tweets that they are delaying the release of Cyberpunk 2077 from September 17th to November 19th (thanks MacAllen). They say the sci-fi RPG is feature complete, but they plan to use the extra two months to iron out bugs and tweak game balance. Here's their message:

[...]

This week, journalists from all over the world are starting to independently play the game. We are eager (and quite stressed) to hear their opinions, as well as see your reactions when they publish their previews right after we air Night City Wire on the 25th of June. We hope this will satisfy some of your hunger for the game as we work to polish it for the November launch.
More information.

It's due to consoles once again it seems.:(
PS5 release date November 20th.

My guess is the delay is still the new consoles.
Damn you consoles.:shakefist:

Anyway like others said I still have Wasteland III at least.

(It better not be delayed also.)

The tweet says it's because of testing. What makes you think it's because consoles? Some rumors elsewhere?

The Devs have previously said they won't be working on ps5/xbox whatever it's called versions until the current generation ones are out, but I believe it's a sony requirement that all ps4 games released from something like July onwards have to be tested and confirmed to work on the ps5 as part of their backwards compatibility feature, so they would need to test that before release even though the actual ps5 version of the game won't be out until later on. So I guess it's possible that might have caused a delay.

Just realized they claimed it wouldn't be delayed and was on track for September in their last conference call meeting with shareholders. Guess that was a lie also.

I understand your frustration because I share it. But that was over two months ago. People estimate deadlines and miss them all the time in creative endeavors. It does mean they can't precisely predict the future, and that's a bummer, but that's not the same as lying. If you believe they would intentionally lie to the people who financially support the company, you're not thinking clearly.

Maybe they got screwed up by the covid virus thing like the rest of the world?
Last link I shared says otherwise.
Continuing to field questions from investors, Nowakowski was firm that he did not foresee any risks at the moment that would prevent Cyberpunk from launching in September, including the chance that other major titles might get delayed into September due to COVID-19.

Well, crap. September was looking like a good time for Cyberpunk. Not a lot going on then. The end of the year is getting a bit crowded now..

I completely get it. I shouldn't be this worked up about a game, but I am. I've been pissed all day. Games are a big part of what gets me through the days, and this particular game is one of the most anticipated of my life. I'm also admittedly not a very patient person. We'll get there.

I don't expect I'll like GTApunk 2077 that much. A game where driving and shooting are the pillars of its gameplay, wrapped under a cinematic "RPG" masquerade, usually not my cup of tea. I think we'll be lucky if we can even call this game a RPG, but then my expectations are low, and maybe I'll be positively surprised whenever the game releases, which is a minor concern to me.

I sense this game will flop big. However I fully expect Patreon 3D porn creators to jump on this engine and peruse the female models to great delight.

This game is too big to flop ;)

I don't mind the delay that much, as long as they do not use the time to further increase the minimal requirements for running it (usually, the opposite happens, *cough* consoles *cough*).

Honestly? I am completely calm about it.

a) It's a game. Nothing more. Hopefully a good game that will give me 100+ hours of enjoyment, but still, just a game. I have dozens of those that I still want to play. Admittedly, I do not want to play them as much as Cyberpunk, but still... just a game.

b) I prefer my games "bug-free" over "soon". Better less bugs a little later than more bugs but now. Imagine if they had done this with Bloodlines (the original)... And of course... It's just a game.

c) I currently trust them, so when they say, they need the time to find and remove bugs, I believe that's the reason. They are among the developers who I actually believe when they say things like these. But even if I didn't believe them... It's just a game.

d) I work in software development myself and there simply is no way to provide an absolute safe deadline that will never be broken - unless you perhaps add a few years on top of it. So I understand what might be happening there. But even if I didn't understand that... It's just a game.

So let me summarize: Relax. It's just a game and you are not 3-year olds in a candy store.

Yep I was excited about this game up until the moment they started showing gameplay. I'll still play it....and maybe it'll even turn out to be excellent. I'm just not expecting that anymore.

Sorry guys, I don't see helicopter sim with horrible controls in CP2077.
If you did, show it to me. Otherwise… No GTA.

For all I know, CP2077 is not vehicles driving sim with a vulgar Trevor character.

It is easier to blame consoles for this delay but such blame (*if* we're treating this delay as someone's fault) should fall on the developers. Or do you think it wasn't in CDPR plans, from the beginning, to make a console version of CP 2077 ? They didn't decide to make a console version only last year, of course. They could have opted to make it PC-exclusive or, like Larian did with D:OS, release it on consoles some time after (D:OS PC released June, 2014 while PS4/Xbox released October, 2015).

But in one thing I completely agree with you: will jump straight on Wasteland 3 it as soon as it releases.
