Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is listed in 10 categories?

First time I see that game on an award list.

Wiki tells me it's a ps4 exclusive (until the 14th when it release on Steam), that gameplay is walking around an empty English town clicking on glowing lights to get the backstory and that its metacritic score aggregate is of 78.

This is why Film and Television organisms have no business with videogames. They simply have no clue about what's a good videogame.

Coincidentially, this "Everybody's Gone to Rapture" game that is listed in 10 award categories is set in England. British Academy of Film and Television Awards = Credibility Zero.

Most of these national awards are dominated by politics, so they are usually populated with head-scratchers. I wonder how Fallout 4 fits into this.

Regardless what you think about the game itself, the soundtrack is actually good.

It looks like that was developed by The Chinese Room, which is a British indie studio. Hence, BAFTA.

Arkham Knight won a British Game award?!

Yup, Rocksteady Studios is also British.

Fallout 4 best game? Sure…

I think critics in general often look at games differently than do players. Or at least they use different criteria. The same situation exists in the film industry.

I like what I like; critics and reviewers be damned. My pleasure and satisfaction comes from within, not determined by others standards.

I was going to write something more elaborate, but I felt a severe case of deja vu coming on :D

It's an ok game, even GOTY material if you're a mainstream, populist media source. But it's a horrible RPG.

I'm not so sure about that. Neither critics nor players are homogenous groups. You will always find players who agree with critics about some games and disagree about others, and vice versa.

I for one like FO4 very much, but mostly as an exploration game, with a lot of nice little details. Not for it's RPGness.

That isn't surprising. They didn't like fallout 3 either. Or skyrim. :)

Benthesa games aren't for everyone.

Benthesa games aren't for everyone.

I would say they are for everyone, designed for as broad an audience as possible in everything from story, interface, combat and everything inbetween with some "epic" moments forced in, which has far reaching consequences and a watered down end result that lacks any kind of edge that hasn't been sanded away.

Personally because of that I'm not sure I'd be able to put more than 10 or 20 hours into one of their later games without mods.

Infact going by Skyrim I gave up on it surprisingly early (as did a family member who'd been a fan of TES since Arena days). I then ended up waiting 3 or 4 years watching mods until I was ready to give it another go with a massive list of mods already downloaded and ready to install.

If it wasn't for mods I couldn't care less about Bethesda games anymore.

Fallout 4 is a nice and easy to play game indeed. I like the feeling of freedom. It's an almost perfect mix of small features that are important for an experienced RPG player like me.
