Excuse my random intrusion to some really nice picks, but I heard this on the radio today and insta-pumped it to 11. I know it's not the usual kind of selection for this thread, but I still find it one of the most emotive songs I've ever heard - if you've ever in your life experienced a love for someone and you no longer even know their whereabouts then this song will suddenly shove them back into your memory.

It's also, as far as my musical experience has tasted, quite the coolest song ever made, like ibuprofen in the form of music:

In case you suddenly get the craving to know where this sublime sample comes from, it's from an entirely differently emotive and slightly less 'cool' song from the early 70s entitled Backstabbers, by the O'Jays:

Pretty fantastic. 3 guitarists. Plus a keyboardist that plays slide guitar. I'd say that's required viewing on headphones for any Floyd/Waters fan.

It's well worth getting the DVD - the sound is fantastic.

Yes, a wonderful song. I also like these remixes from back when.

The first one's good, but too techno for me, the other two are right up my street though.

You know I was slagging off Fight Club the other day? even if no... well... I think everyone who watches Fight Club should then be forced to watch Ed Norton in a musical - balance etc:

Roger Waters, In the Flesh, late 90s. Great gig. The guitarist, Doyle Bramhall, really brings something different to it.

Great stuff. Hard to beat the foursome of Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall (my favorite all-time album).

Does the left handed guitarist have his strings strung upside down? I know they did that for the old surf tunes sounds but I dont think Ive ever seen that with a rock guitarist

Edit: Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun was a nice surprise!

Yes, he does. I remember reading that it gives him a slightly different style, because he essentially plays upside down - he bends the strings by pulling them down instead of pushing them up.

Today I started going through some Rolling Stones Top 50 Prog Rock Albums list (which is exactly that….a list) looking for an album, or even better, a band that Ive never heard before, and I found this. Never heard these guys, but apparently, judging by the comments, they were Krautrock and not Prog Rock :) Whatever they are, this album was very very good. Very Jazzy / Prog sound

Interesting rhythms and textures. Bel Air is my favorite on FD. :)

And another foray into the prog depth of my youth for stuff I haven't listened to in 35 years.

JETHRO TULL: THICK AS A BRICK

Great jazzy + rock + folky + a little blues compositions all wrapped up together. Yeah a bit bombastic at times, but purposeful as it was supposed to parody other prog acts. One long song…. Surprisingly good parody. Still wonderful after all these years.

And of course, it's predecessor, Aqualung (Full Album).

Title track features what I think is one of the best guitar solos, up there with Comfortably Numb.
