Ginger Prime suggests seven Square-Enix RPGs that should be remade:

Top 7

Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Trials of Mana Remake, and now Nier remake, what other RPGs do we want to see Square-Enix remake? For me, what I thought would be a top 5 list, turned into a top 7 list of RPGs that I would love to see make a return.
More information.

Square Enix owns rights to Anachronox.

I'd love to see these non-Square-Enix JRPGs remade...

Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PS2-2005)
Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast-2001)
Grandia 2 (Dreamcast-2000)

My thoughts exactly.

I have zero faith in SquareEnix nowadays so no don't remake any more older games.

I can imagine it already more games released in parts instead of the full experience. To clarify since the new generation consoles and the departure of the original talent they have become another BioWare.

Still remember the excuses for why the latest Final Fantasy games were delayed so much, and the focus on mobile phone games for a few years

A remake of Chrono Trigger could be cool if done right. That's one of the few JRPGs I really liked. Final Fantasy VI was good too.

I also liked a game called Vagrant Story that Square released on the PS1.

I loved Vagrant Story. The script and storytelling was very atypical for JRPGs, then or since. I seem to recall that the combat was a weak point. It is one of the few JRPGs I'd have any interest in a remake (not a remaster) of.
