If it's modeled after the turn-based mod, then it won't use either. It will use proper distances.

Yeah, no squares or hexes needed, just mobility and ability radius.

Hmm, so would that work similar to combat in Temple of Elemental Evil? I haven't got Kingmaker yet to try it out.

Yep. You're allowed to move x meters (or whatever) and still take a standard action. If you go swerving around lots of obstacles then you won't get as far.

Extra credit if they take slope into account - you can go further downhill than uphill.
