Level 10 is pretty powerful in D&D. BG1 only went to about 10 if i recall. I am hoping for some dlc that increases the level cap.

The major bummer with a level 10 cap is dual or multi classing. Doesn’t leave much room for growth.

Mind flayers in 5e are cr7(the simple ones) ,which means you can fight a lot at level 10. Now, dragons is another issue. The youngest dragons are around cr 7 or 8(if i'm not mistaken), so you can fight one quite easily.

Although, at the presentation 2 first level characters fought (a weak version?) one or two intellect devourers

I sincerely fail to see how a higher level cap is a sign of modernity… Those two notions seem unrelated to me.

You don't want to play an epic level BG 4? Why?

From the reddit AMA, some interesting questions from the BG community to Swein.

Fair point. But what I meant is that more recent D&D/Pathfinder games do not have a level cap so low. And since they are changing the BG franchise so much, they could change that as well (IMHO).

You are distorting what I said

I did not say that I don't want to play epic lvls in an eventual BG4. I said that I want to play the whole story arc (or the whole 20 lvls) in a single main campaign -- like NWN 1 and 2, PF:K. I have nothing against an expansion (DLC) for epic lvls or a new BG game.

It really depends on what type of monsters Larian want in their campaign.
If they want us to fight an adult red dragon, a capped level 10 party won't do the trick indeed.
We'll see.

You are distorting what I said
Yep. Sorry.
