Indeed, rather poor form there. I don't recall this kind of mentality back when I played sports myself.

Italy v England could be a great final on Sunday. Both countries can score and England is going to feel the pressure.

Too bad for Denmark, but yeah, it'll be a good final.

I thought the Italy-Spain was of a very high level as well - possibly the best from a technical and tactical standpoint so far. Drama-wise it's hard to beat the Switzerland-France game.

Absolutely, just spoiling it for all the true fans. I'm no football fan but hearing the cheers and gasps drifting on the breeze from the local pub was a joy to hear last night, especially after the last 18 months of pandemic induced silence.

In 2015, before an England/France game, English fans sang the French national anthem to show solidarity with the French nation grieving a horrific terrorist attack in Paris. What have we become?

Who's ready for the match?

I'm very unconventional. I'll be watching at home with a couple of glasses of port and probably some pop corn.

I'm British now so I'm meant to support England

I used to love Italy though so I will reluctantly support England

I'm ready, I just hope it's a clean contest with absolutely no shenanigans. Keep it clean and may the best team win!

That was a heartbreaker. Italy did dominate the majority of the match though.

Yup, but Donnaruma is a giant of a goalkeeper. Only 22 and already comparable to Buffon.

He's going to do well if he doesn't get injured or lose form.

Great game, suspenseful to the end! I was rooting for Italy, so was happy at the end that "football was coming Rome". I do foresee great things for the English team in the future, they surprised me with their solid organization.

But really, great tournament in all, with IMHO a deserved winner, and I really enjoyed it.
Now the countdown begins to the World Cup in a year and a half.

Once it went to a shootout, England was finished. The kiss of death for The Three Lions.

Congrats to Italy! I'm so glad for them, especially for Chiellini and Bonucci, two veterans who finally managed to win an international trophy in the closing years of their playing careers.

England started really good in the first half but it was a different story in the second half. England also made a big mistake not subbing in players sooner, while Italy kept their team fresh throughout the game. Subbing Rashford and Sancho in for the last 3 minutes was just insane since Italian back line showed they were tired from the start of overtime. Two fresh players on the wing would have made all the difference. The fact that they were the ones to miss a penalty just makes it worse. You can't blame them, though, it was the situation under most pressure imaginable in sports. Same goes for Saka who played a solid game and had the guts to take the penalty before more experienced players.

I hear that three of them are now being racially abused online by supposed England fans who showed nothing but class throughout the tournament /s. Really disgusting.

Nod, the substitutions for England were slow and lethargic, Italy was rotating them in and out like true professionals. You got to feel bad for those blokes that missed the penalty kicks, then again that's just not cutting the mustard, when you're called up to perform that's when it counts, not always when the timing suits you.
