Hearthstone

Anyone get anything interesting?

I got the preorder so pulled Rhonin, Confessor Paletress and the Pirate legendary. Tons of rares of course and quite a few epics. Not bad as my two favorite classes are Mage and Priest.

I'm just now starting to use the new stuff. It seems ok but I liked GvG lots more. The Inspire mechanic doesn't seem that useful so far and I have yet to lose a Joust tho they were all from the opponent. I haven't run any joust cards yet.

I think some of the new cards are overpowered, but they'll balance that out. I think they already fixed one such a issue.

You hero power costs (1) less, and another one you can use your hero power several times.

I think they changed it to your hero power will cost 1. :) so they found the glitch rather quickly.

I've had some really tense arena battles, I really hate to play against mage or Paladin in the arena. If a mage pulls a lot of destruction spells they are so hard to play against.

I was looking for something to play on my iPad mini and got totally addicted to this game over the weekend. I had a ton of fun beating the normal solo adventures with all of the classes, and tweaking decks along the way. I really had no idea what I was doing with deck building pretty much loading up on taunts, draw card, and heals. I enjoyed the shaman for a bit, but really had fun with my paladin. At least until I tried to play a few games in casual. I won my first two somehow, but then when I got around level 9 or so, I was losing every match. I checked out a few of the more powerful cards that beat me and I think most of them were from purchased packs. They certainly werent available to me in my card collection

Its seems alot of people play Mage. Probably 4 out of 5 games were against a Mage. I guess to be decent, Ill have to look at card collections that are already set for Paladin. Ill probably have to learn the crafting system, and buy a few packs also. Fun game though for sure

You can get a free pack of cards every 2 days by just doing the daily quest.

They really did a good job letting you get everything $$ free, it just takes time.

I stopped playing as I wasn't getting anything new anymore with my free packs. It needs to be more tactical as well. Its a simple game mechanics wise.

I got hooked again. Took a few months off while playing W3 and F4 but was bored one day so redownloaded it and am back in. Rebuilt a few decks and am having fun. I still think its the best 15 min game out there.

Anyone still playing regularly?

I need people to spectate for when I get that quest. Also the new Battle a Friend quest.

Eh, never understood the appeal behind these card games. Or sports games in general. Or those weird virtual life simulators.

Well you suck or didn't bother to try any.
Card games in general are okay with me. Hearthstone is not okay with me, but I believe I've written why already.

Well, I did wipe the floor with New Vegas Casinos. This probably another one of Toff's scams. :p

In Vegas there is a chance, tiny one but still, that you win.
In Hearthstone you can't win. By no means. There is no way your pocket will ever get fat. "House always wins" phrase became true.

Late to the party, just downloaded the game for the first time this week.

Kind of liked it, leveled the nine classes through the tutorial battles, got a Shaman legendary in my starter pack, so started putting together a basic Shaman deck.

Didn't expect to do well in matches against more established opponents, but tried out a few just to see the kinds of cards that get played. And immediately ran into this:

Needless to say, I lost, but I don't mind that -- I mind that it's so sloppily designed as to appeal to only the most munchkin-y of players. How am I supposed to take a game that prints a card like this seriously?

You have to play another card first, map to the golden monkey, then that card is shuffled into your deck, and after that you have to play it. So it is not so overpowered as it'd appear to you :)

Also for Joxer, who is very wrong about this: http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/blog/20288668/hearthstone-world-championship-details-9-22-2016

Here is a summary, hearthstone world championship prize pool:

Championship Prize Pool

1st: $250,000
2nd: $150,000
3rd/4th: $100,000
5th-8th: $50,000
9th-16th: $25,000

I'm not wrong. To grab that $ you've already invested in the scam scheme more than the prize sum.

Its not a very good card. Its only useful for very long games as its a 3 stage card and it gives you random Legendaries and at least half of Legendaries are just not good. Also you get no spells when it happens.

Just make sure you get your daily quests done (you can have up to 3 active) and you will be able to get a pack every 2 days for free. I would suggest getting Classic cards for a bit. Also, once you get a class to level 20 you start getting a free pack every week in the Tavern Brawl. So that 4.5 minimum free packs a week. It adds up. Feel free to add me as I put my User ID up a few posts. You will need some friends when you get the spectate a friend quest which gives you a free pack.

Theres some hidden quests for new players. They will get you a few more free packs.

Don't pull a Trump joxer.

I have a nice collection of cards with most of the good Legendaries and I've spent maybe $150 in all the time I have played. I've easily gotten $150 of entertainment out of it as I have no idea how many hours I have played but I'm sure I'm below $1 an hour by now.

A trip to the local bar even during Happy Hour is at least $20 and is frequently more than that. While the bar is fun, its a total waste of money. I'd rather spend money on other things.

Having it on the phone is just awesome as its the perfect phone game. After a bike ride I relax on my patio to let myself dry off and play a few games then. Its great. Get somewhere 15 mins early? Play a game. Quick in and quick out. Theres no big time commitment.

Let us see, $50 for 50 card packs…. for $250,000 you can get 250,000 packs, each pack has 5 cards 5 * 250,000 , 1.25 million cards. Total cards in hearthstone: 922 - the cards in basic decks and freely available cards.

That math is incorrect.
In fact there is no correct math when the outcome is luckbased gambling - it's possible even with a million invested your cards still suck and you never got exact cards you wanted. Per Murphy's Law no matter how much cash you pour into this gambling scheme, you'll always lack of one or more cards to combine a winning deck. Unless you pay more than the prize value is.

But you can still prove me wrong. Go the tournament and win it. I know for sure you didn't invest a quarter of million into that gamble.
Meanwhile I'll invest zero $ in League of Legends where luck doesn't exist, where I get exactly what I want not what some random generator slot machine gives me, yet tournament prizes are millions.

In fact, I'll just buy a lottery ticket. Obvious luckbased, cheap, plus I won't be wasting time.

You do realize that all games are a time waster. Nothing wrong with that but its funny that to you HS is a time waster but not LoL.

I would agree with you... except for one little detail... In hearthstone you can disassemble your duplicate cards or the ones you don't need and make the cards you need with dust.
