Saitek or Logitech for joysticks?
January 2nd, 2011, 04:03
I was wondering which of these manufacturers makes the more reliable joysticks. Is one notably better than the other? Do you prefer one brand over the other and do you have a favorite model you can recommend?
I've been looking at some sticks (the limited selection available here in New Zealand), and all the reviews I've read or watched online just seem to go on about how many buttons they have and what you can do with them, or how cool the twist grip is and so on. None of that helps me make a decision. I don't care about features all that much, I want reliability. I want to know it will work out of the box and I won't have to return it because one of the buttons is stuffed, or the stick pulls to one side or something. And I want to know if it will still work well after a couple of years and won't wear out in a month.
So can any of you guys help me on that? Here are some that I'm looking at;
Saitek Cyborx X. A little too expensive for what I want (just casual fying now and again), and I don't care about the adjustable grip and head but it does look sexy. I can really picture myself sitting in my space fighter with that baby infront of me.
Logitech Attack 3. Looks about right for me but I've read some bad reviews.
Saitek PS41 Aviator. This I can use on my PC AND 360, but after looking at a video review of it it looks a little oversized, and I'm worried it won't be as good quality as a PC model because it's designed for 360 use. And after playing my first "flight sim" on the 360 (Tom Clancey's HAWX) I doubt I'll play another one so I might as well get a good PC model. I'd have to import that one as well.
I know there are some fighter sim jocks out there who more or less marry their stick, so what do you think?
