Default Fallout: New Vegas - Dead Money Review @ Ausgamers

January 13th, 2011, 23:26
Ausgamers has a review of Dead Money, with a score of 7.9/10:
Immediately Dead Money feels completely different and separate from the rest of New Vegas. Youíre companionless, weaponless, cut off from the rest of the world by a purple toxic cloud and no fast travel, and held at bay by an explosive charge embedded in the collar on your neck. Youíre at Father Elijahís beck and call, and heís gonna make you work for your freedom.

Youíre tasked with working through the labyrinth-like Villa on the Casinoís outskirts to recruit three eclectic companions (a ghoulish entertainer, a mutilated mute tech-whiz and a bi-polar super mutant) to help you break into the vault, each with their own motivations, quirks and explosive ring around the collar. The twist is that all of your collars are linked, so if one dies, you all die. Thatís one way to build teamwork now, innit? Not only do you have to keep your offsiders onside to stop your head going boom, but outside factors also come into play.
More information.

Ugg it sounds awful. I know some people enjoy this type of challenge but I don't find any enjoyment in being a slave, especially with an explosive collar, being forced to work with a team. Throw in a maze and it only gets worse.

While it sounds clever and different, which is good, it won't be anything I will be getting. One time a review has clearly gotten me to avoid purchasing something. Although not based on the score but on the content.

It's currently an Xbox 360 exclusive, but I'm sure it will get a PC release eventually.
