Healing Stimulant Question - Inconsistent

Why am I not getting the amount of health restored that the game says I should be getting? It will say 20 and I'll get all sort of results - sometime 15-17, sometime only 3-6. Any reason for this that I am not aware of? Thanksl.

Medicine addiction decreases amount you can get from stimulant.

Ah, thanks, that explains it as I am pretty addicted. I guess I'll need to get that fixed! I really need a manual for this game
