This map belongs to which game?
March 26th, 2011, 19:34
I didn't know exactly where to ask this question , but I hope it's the right place.
I have a map. I don't know which game it belongs to, but it's really important for me to know it. Can anyone help?

Well, if you don't know the answer for sure, you can give me some possibilities and I will search if they are correct or not myself.

That map does look familiar to me…but I can't put my finger on where I've seen it. Gah!
Some games that pop up into my memory - all most likely unrelated!
Dark Queen of Krynn
Lords of Midnight
Moonstone
It even reminded me a little of Golden Axe.
Sorry, I've probably been no help at all - but good luck nontheless.
Maybe someone with some ace google skills can find it on another site.

Awesome
I was close…just didn't get the right game.
Glad the puzzle is solved. I actually have the first two games on Megadrive/Genesis…and the font/art style did look familiar.
So If anyone has Golden Axe 3 on Megadrive and would like to send it my way….

Can you post a link to the website where the other tracks are? I'd like to hear them out of curiosity.

I have Sega Mega Drive: Ultimate Collection for xbox360 which includes it.
I believe GA3 is also a downloadable title for the Wii's Virtual Arcade.

Well I uploaded the whole 20 soundtracks when I asked this question in Mobygames a long ago, here they are.

These three soundtracks are #26, #37 and #38.

If this contest is over, can we have the results, then ?![]()
BTW, do you have any suggestions where should I ask about these soundtracks? Is there any forum which has professional users in these matters ?
March 30th, 2011, 21:23
I don't know. I don't even know where these soundtracks come from (I have doownloaded them but not yet listened to them) … I guess a forum with gamers of all sorts involved would have a better chance of finding out ?

First bite - Sounds adventure game-ish perhaps?
Hmm - pretty sure the second bite is from Return to Castle Wolfenstein. (Although it reminded me more so of Wizardry 8 meets BG or Fallout Tactics at first…)
Third Bite - mmm…a racing game or some kind of survival horror?

@Frozen Fireball, I'm guessing this is the second contest maybe? I just wonder why the tracks are labled 21-40.
I listened to the rest briefly, and recognized some of them right away. 21 is from Contra(NES), 23 is from the save/load menu of the Resident Evil series, 24 is a remix of the first level of the original Castlevania, 28 sounds like an older Sega game.. Space Harrier or Outrun perhaps? 34 is from Silent Hill, 35 is from Max Payne, 37 is RtCW like Pessimeister said, and 40 is from Super Mario Brothers. I definitely know 22 as well.. the name escapes me at the moment, but it's from a menu/shop screen.
Whew… I've been gaming too long!

I guess a forum with gamers of all sorts involved would have a better chance of finding out ?Yeah, but I don't know which forum to go exactly. detecting these soundtracks is hard, even Winamp auto tag doesn't identify any of their detail at all. asking in random forums won't help. especially now which I have only 4 days left to send the answers.
pretty sure the second bite is from Return to Castle WolfensteinCorrect. I played the game before. don't know why I couldn't remember it's main theme. anyway, thanks again.

BTW, you recognized most of them correctly except for number 28 which is the original Sonic the hedgehog.
#22 belongs to Streets of Rage remake character selection screen.

Well, the magazine came out, the results for the competition were mentioned in it and surprisingly enough, my name was not between 5 winners. although judging by the answers, I should absolutely be one of them. now, the only thing I can do is to feel sorry for the enormous amount of time I wasted for this competition. I don't know what happened, maybe they didn't receive my e-mail, maybe they didn't read it, maybe there was cheating involved ( although I doubt about this one ), I don't know, but as a last resort, I sent them an e-mail and described the situation for them. ( with proofs of course, like a screen-shot from the date of the e-mail I sent to them for the competition and the screen-shot which I took from the excel file which contained the answers if the attached file was not transferred correctly.)
In any case, as the request of Alrik Fassbauer, I'm posting the results taken from the magazine itself:
21: Contra
22: Streets of Rage
23: Resident Evil 2
24: Castlevania
25: God of War 1
26: The Curse of Monkey Island
27: Shadow of the Colossus
28: Sonic the Hedgehog
29: Mafia 1
30: Earthworm Jim 2
31: Comix Zone
32: Neverhood
33: Donkey Kong Country
34: Silent Hill
35: Max Payne
36: Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
37: Return to Castle Wolfenstein
38: Quake III Arena
39: Call of Duty
40: Super Mario Bros.
