I thought some members might be interested in knowing that the excellent Adventure/Horror game Realms of The Haunting is now available at GOG.com for $5.99.

Very nice game, highly recommended!
I just wanted to add that if you *do* get it, be aware that it can actually run in hi-res (640x480) but does not do so by default.
I had to manually change a config file - in the original big-box version at least. I guess it's possible that the GoG version comes with hi-res enabled by default.
Just a heads-up as it really makes a difference when playing the game today

It's a great game that really flew under the radar imo. I've even made comments in the past about how I wished GOG would get this title.
I was playing it in dosbox about a year ago, but ran into some kind of glitch when it came time to swap CDs. It'll be nice to play this again and not have to worry about stuff like that.

In my experience, it's best to make your own specialised DosBox config. Most GOG configurations are sub-optimal.
I use D-Fend as a front-end.

Yesterday when I was at work I opened the gog page to see if there was anything new. When I saw Realms of the Haunting , few seconds later the game was in my virtual shelf.
By the way, there's a one day promo today. % 60 discount on Painkiller Black Edition. I couldn't resist and bought that too. I counted today and there're 43 games in my gog shelf. I hate you, gog, you are the biggest enemy of my credit card.
RotH is a nice mix of FPS/Adventure game. This game combines FPS play style with adventure elements also adds the formula the FMV movies. This was an impressive features back in the day, when the FPS's generally consist of mindless shooters. But the game never could be popular (which I can't understand why) and lost to the time. By the way, the developers of RotH later made an RPG game, Soulbringer, another hidden gem for me that came with some innovative ideas.

RotH still is my favorite game; I replayed it only recently, and with a liitle cycle tweaking it ran perfectly in DOSBox.

Nice find. This one has been on my to-get list for a long time. But what would I do with it?
That's a great deal for PK:BE, too.

Loved the game. Maybe it's time to do a replay, it's been awhile. Can't remember much of the story, but I do know I loved it.
I love that about replaying a game I haven't touched in awhile. I start to remember things I had forgotten while playing it.

Wait a few years, and you'll get that "benefit" in all aspects of your life.

Hehe, graphics are a hard pill to swallow but you can tell they put a lot of love and care into this game. Story and atmosphere are superb. I never did finish it back in the day. I wasn't a Lovecraft fan back then either so now it's super cool as I'm picking up on some definite Lovecraftian influences.

RotH is THE game! At least for me. And graphics … well, for someone who still plays games from the early 90s on a regular base they are still great. I love the serene, peaceful atmosphere and visuals of Raquia and Arqua to this day.

I think I know why it is relatively unknown. It was marketed as a cheap FPS (FPS were very big back then, as it was around the days of Doom. Everyone was churning out shooters of some description and the market share of such things was perceived as enormous) whereas it was an action/adventure in the vein of System Shock (albeit in a Gothic Horror way). As a result the shooter fans who bought RotH didn't get what they wanted and the action/adventure fans weren't aware that it existed. I actually e-mailed the Dev's about this as RotH was such a great game it made me sad to see it doing badly over such a mistake/misrepresentation, and they acknowledged I was probably on the right track in my analysis but it was out of their hands (publisher decision, as usual).

Atmosphere was great though, and it had some really good puzzles as well, especially towards the end of the game. It was a worthwhile experience for me, despite not having any nostalgic memories of playing it in the past.
