Wayback Machine: RPGDOT
May 20th, 2011, 18:25
The Wayback Machine offers glimpses into the past of the web. I got curious and searched RPGDot and found it. Found a lot of them actually. For any old timer RPGDot veterens who are feeling nostalgic check out how it used to be.
Whole Archive for RPGDot
RPGDOT 2000
RPGDOT 2005 (Around this time I found out about RPGDot and started coming there for the news. Wasn't until RPGWatch that I actually joined in on the fun in the forums.)
It's really slow, but if you let it go awhile it'll eventually show the page. You can read some of the old articles like this one, The RPGs of 2005.
Some of the links you click are wonky at best, but you may find a few that are archived if you're bored and feeling nostalgic.
Here's the archive using the new Beta version of The Wayback Machine. This one is even wonkier than the classic one, but it has other features that the other one doesn't.

List of all the main pages : http://classic-web.archive.org/web/*hh_/rpgdot.com/
For RPGDOT, one of them would work for you I think. I only tried two but they worked for me.
EDIT: Was the Dot called Blinkingdot.com before it went to rpgdot.com ? When searching for forums.rpgdot.com, that's where the website leads me to … ?
EDIT: And this is their news page :http://classic-web.archive.org/web/2…om/index.shtml

JDR, if the classic one doesn't work try the Beta: http://wayback.archive.org/web/*/www.rpgdot.com
I was looking through them and I must have started coming to RPGDot a hell of a lot earlier than 2005 because I remember some of polls RPGDot did back in 2002. Like the "How old are you?" poll.
Man, I've been coming here/there for almost a decade…..Can someone tell father time to slow the hell down?

Yes, RPGDot was originally called BlinkingDot, though not too many still remember that. I was a visitor/member all the way back then. I'm OLD!!

Poll anno 2000:
What is your biggest complaint about RPG's?Forums. Forums never changes.
Weak storyline
They are too hard
Bugs, bugs, bugs
They are all the same, really
Too linear
Too little roleplaying elements
I have no complaints at all
Level N+1

I was at the Dot since some time before the release of Morrowind. I think I first came for news articles and screenshots about that game.
You know, the design of the dot was far cooler than the watch

I had forgotten all about the Top 100. Ultima 7 will always be #1
I found out about many a rpg through that list and the games database.
@HiddenX I don't get what you mean. You took those boxshots or actually made them?
Edit: HA! I found Corwin's old Ultima 5 Lazarus Review.
And now for something completely different. The download links still work. I just downloaded Kiya, Barnabus, Raze and Myrthos' guide to Beyond Divinity.

@skavenhorde:
I scanned the boxes / game manuals etc. - and enhanced the pictures with Photoshop.

Raze is still active in the Larian forums - and Xanlosch has taken the content of Kiya's site because her web server of the "Lycos" company was going to be closed.
I have seen Kiya only once in all of the years : Around the time hen she asked to somone taking over her web site content …
I haven't seen Barnabus for ages - I don't even remember a single entry from him in the last 6-7 years …
