If you wish to run ultra high quality texture mods and have a 4gb+ PC with 64bit OS you should check out fnv4gb from the nvse site. I have to use this one if I use the highres textures, else the game crash on me.

I just downloaded that yesterday. With those OJO files I have a feeling I'm going to need it

I used to try 4Aces FNV for textures that simply up the textures to 4000 pixels and sharpening them with photoshop, but it crashed. I now use OJO instead that looks better.

Jemy you do realize what the survival skill is for right? tons of harvestable and craftable items usually quench minor dehydration in one go. Also there's at least one perk that affects this as well.

skavenhorde, was it you that owns 3D Vision? How do those skies look in 3D? When I played, I used a quick mod that just took the normal skybox and shoved it up about 100 feet. It meant I only had a circle of clouds above my head instead of over the entire sky but at least the clouds were *above* the treetops.

The primary reason it's flawed, is because penalties arrive at 200/400/600 and 800. You are most likely to fix your first condition (mild) to fix your END -1 as soon as possible, so you never actually reach the second stage (advanced). Fixing the first stage takes two purified water (dirty water works just as good). It takes less than a day to get the first stage, creating the feel of "chugging 2 purified water all the time" thanks to the way time works in Fallout NV. They also did it so that 1 sip from a water source "heal" 200 water. This means that you are probably going to have to use it several times to go to 0 "while at it".
Now the ability to create a -600 food "Caravan Lunch" is completely meaningless since you aren't going to go around with -1 STR (at 200) or -2 STR/-1 CHA (at 400) until you get Critical Starvation, just to have use for the "Caravan Lunch". You aren't going to use "Caravan Lunch" to cure dehydration (water is better for that purpose) and you aren't going to use it to heal (Sunset Sarsaparilla or Stimpacks are better for that purpose).
Had food been ALOT more scarce than it is (now every 2 uncooked animals you kill is enough to remove Minor Starvation (which you get after not eating one in-game day)) so there is pretty much never a reason for you to carry much food with you. I have had 10-20 Bighorner Meat on Cass most of the game when I had just 20 survival and I went on as fine as I do now.
The different time in Fallout is also a problem. You feel that you eat more in-game than you do out of game. The need to open your pipboy, go through your inventory, find what to eat, is making it worse.
Finally, this could have all been fixed if the effect of water bottles were doubled and the first dehydration penalty came much later (lets say it happened around 800, then rapidly got worse).

I've been watching the Increased Wasteland Spawn mod for a while, off and on. It is/was undeniably the best New Vegas analogue to Mart's Mutant Mod but has not been working correctly since patch 1.3. I was pleasantly surprised a couple days back to see another modder actually re-doing the code from square one.

New Vegas Redesigned is an absolute must for me. The NPCs look amazing with it and it totally gets rid of that sort of doughy Oblivion look.
The author yanked it from the Nexus in a huff a while back but you can still get it elsewhere.

The difference to me is almost as dramatic as playing Morrowind with or without a head mod.

With this and some of the other texture and effect graphic mods I have this game looking pretty much on par with The Witcher 2.

Hopefully lists with must-install mods will start poping up once the GOTY is released. This is exactly the kind of game that deserves big mods even for the first playthrough.

I'd just like to interject here and point out that I'm not going to say anything to spoil the mood, Chief. I'll just float here and watch. Don't mind me, just sitting here, floating and watching, that's me.

Why are bethesda-game mod authors such fragile babies? I have been wondering this for a long time now- why do these people who make badass mods throw these crazy fits and remove everything from the internet? What kind of dementia is perpetuated on the Bethesda mod forums that causes this to happen so regularly? It's completely insane how much drama there is around mods for all their games and I don't understand it *at all*.

There is so much drama in the Bethesda modding community it's not even funny. There probably exists some of that to some extent in any community but I feel like it's kind of heightened there. Then again, that's the main one I've been involved in and mostly it was the Morrowind days.
I know the guy who attempted to put together Morrowind 2011, an all in one collection that allows you to update Morrowind without having hunt around all over the place and do backflips, caused a huge shitstir in the community of that moldy old game. They threatened him with copyright infringement for a freely distributed package, got Bethesda to ban him and pretty much ran him out of virtual town on a rail.
I myself to this day am still banned from the official Bethesda forums for some drama that happened nearly 10 years ago that I honestly can't even remember the circumstances of anymore.
I never really cared about credit and people knowing that my sign on name worked on a particular mod, I cared about getting the mods out there and hopefully making the game a better experience, but a lot of others don't feel that way and there's a lot of ego and diva-ism going on with the modding.
So yeah, Bethesda modding communities = lots of drama.

Not much of a fan of mods that add content, I only like fixes and fine tuning.
