What games are you playing now?
December 2nd, 2015, 11:52
Currently playing:
- The Bureau: XCOM Declassified: recently installed this to tide me over until XCOM 2, and I must say, it's actually not bad. Think of it as a "Brothers in Arms" clone set in the XCOM world. It's a tactical squad-based shooter. Story so far seems okay. Biggest nitpick I have is the controls… God, it seems like you are constantly fighting against it, it's very much a PITA to position your soldiers where you want them to be. The AI isn't the best either, and requires some amount of babysitting. But, I would actually recommend it, as I'm having a fair bit of fun. It's nice to see the enemies from XCOM:EU from a different perspective, and I dig the 50s vibe.
- Starpoint Gemini 2: playing this kind of off and on. I had installed it before, but was put off by the save system. I'm giving it a shot again and it's mildly enjoying so far. There seems to be a bit of grind though, to get to the next level each time, and there's very generic "kill X" or "bring this from X to Y" (optional) side quests. This is mostly to scratch the scifi itch I've been having at the moment (which I blame on my excitement for the upcoming new Star Wars movie (which I know is bound to disappoint me)).
- Age of Decadence: still working on my assassin playthrough. I've defeated all the arena challengers (the new ones also), and am the undisputed champion of Maadoran.
I've finished up Ganezzar almost, and need to decide where to go next.

Enjoy IWD, Fluent! Love that game
I've started a new game with IWD2, not as fun as IWD1, but I'm starting to get into D&D 3rd ed. Also started HotU again as well. Might even fire up SoZ too![]()

Would you say that IWD is sort of a "gameplay-heavy D&D dungeon-crawler"? That's one reason why I'm so excited about it. It seems like one of those games that offers a bunch of combat, looting, character development and dungeon-crawling, allowing you to build and develop your characters and have endless fun with the gameplay systems. Compared to Baldur's Gate, which is probably a bit more story-heavy than IWD, eh? I'm just going by what I've heard not what I've played thus far. I am going to re-roll my party sometime soon, but I'd like to finish Suikoden III first so I have no other games to distract me.

Oh, and what other game could you have a party like:
Dwarf Dwarven Defender
Hobbit Wizard Slayer
Gnome Thief
Half-Elf Dragon Disciple
Elf Priest of Helm
Human Avenger
I'll probably roll something similar in the next session but I'd like to actually take more time reading and paying closer attention to the benefits of each class.
Also, would you suggest rolling a full party of 6 to start? I wouldn't mind perhaps rolling 4 characters and using the final 2 slots for NPC companions, but I'm not sure how that would work. What are your thoughts on that?

I've always wanted to play them but have never managed too.
I've only got an old PC (around 7 years old) and 360. Where would you recommend I start?
Then, if you'd really like to go for the full experience, you could go to the second game and import your save from the first game. Same goes for the third game, as you can import your save from the second game for added content and stuff.
All of the games are really good RPGs so you can't go wrong with playing them in order.

After finishing the original Tomb Raider I've been D&D-ing too. Biting off another chunk of NWN2 main campaign at the mo. Finally up to Act 3 with an Elven Eldritch Knight. I think she's something like 1/5/10 Fighter/Wiz/EK. This is my second attempt at completing the main quest… Maybe this time I'll be able to stick with it.
When I don't have the time and for quick gaming fix have also been bashing my head against the monitor playing Spelunky.

Just finished Borderlands the Pre-Sequel with Claptrap, which was surprisingly fun once I got past some of the more irritating design choices. It's a lot shorter than the main games, which is a plus since it was starting to overstay its welcome a bit towards the end.
Now I'm feeling the need for a proper RPG, but this month's going to busy, so I should probably put off starting anything until after the holidays. Guess I'll be dipping into fairly mindless things until then. Then it'll be a question of Wasteland 2, Divinity: OS, Pillars of Eternity, or Lords of Xulima.

Thanks. Any recommendations regards which emulator to get?

Still playing Fall of Dungeon Guardians, this is a fantastic dungeon crawler. I'm glad it is so huge, as it has lasted me almost two weeks now. I don't play on weekends so Monday morning I'll be getting back into it, might even finish sometime early next week, depending on just how deep it goes.

Heading back to finish my second play through of Pillars, I am about half way though but took a week off to play Thea.

If you'd like a bit of BG2 taste in your IWD, you can try IWD NPC Project mod, although I wouldn't really recommend it unless you intend to use all 5 pre-made party members and roll 1 of your own. It's more of a BG2 like experience and not suitable for the dungeon crawling - companions are Paladin, Ranger, Fighter, Bard and Thief/Mage, too caster light for my liking. You also have an option to change their classes but I still find them inadequate for a fun combat/dungeon crawl experience of IWD.

No issues thus far. I play her like a switch hitter. She'll stand back and throw a bit of crowd control and damage before going melee mage style. Need to ensure she loads up on buffs when starting an encounter area. Used still spell for everything until she could afford the EK armour from Deekin. She's only one level below Sand for spells and does a bit better than the Ranger I tried on my first aborted play through.
I've consoled the game to give me one extra party member though. So she rolls with Khelgar as a heavily armoured fighter (I hate monks in D&D). Shandra with medium armour and dual short swords, Neeshka scouts and does melee or shortbow, Eilee as herself with a longbow and Sand up the back doing crowd control, buffing/debuffing and nuking.
It gets a bit crowded sometimes but it's a nice balanced party and I'm enjoying having all bases covered so to speak.
Also running with the facelift mods, reduced spell and magic weapon effects, a mod that makes the weapons look normal instead of the gawd awful models that shipped with the game and a few other bits and pieces.
Yeah HotU is fun. I played through that with a dual wielding melee mage that I first took through SoU and a fan made bridging module, something Netheril?? can't remember the name. Great fun.

Could you please provide me with links of mods you are using?? Also, how do you console in extra party member? I could use that!

I reinstalled Elder Scrolls Online and started a new Altmer Dragonknight mage, since I never explored that faction's areas at all when I played it before. It's a fun game, but the quests are still pretty disappointing. If they didn't all tend towards "the world is always doomed!" then it probably wouldn't be so bad. Of course, I'm coming back to this after an extended period in the Secret World, so my comparison-meter may be a bit skewed.

The main quests perhaps, but a lot of side quests are not about the world ending and can be entertaining. A lot of them are pretty cookie cutter too. A mixed bag for sure.

Finished HotU - it was a good fun!
While I'm in a mood, I decided to install a couple more NWN1 mods and started playing "Halo of Flies".
I was going to play NWN2 but that ruined my Sunday completely. Installed both OC and MotB, patched it and it won't run. Couldn't exactly figure out why so I've decided to uninstall and install it again. Bad, bad, bad mistake!!! Instead of removing NWN2 files only, it decided to proceed on removing every single file in my games folder (God knows why or how that could be) and wiped out my entire 30GB+ worth of games installed, including steam…. I was speechless.
So I spent entire afternoon/evening reinstalling games…. Never touching Obsidian games again. Not going to be on my hard drive from now on, ever.

No, it's not Steam. I've installed DVD version of NWN2. I just install everything in "Games" folder, where steam games are installed too. And NWN2 just decided to wipe off every single file there, regardless of it's NWN2 file or not. Steam, Battlenet, whatever, everything was half uninstalled. It was a real pain deleting/uninstalling every single game manually. So I'm pointing fingers at Obsidian…
