I didn't really notice it, only noobs get hit in Vanquish anyway, serves them right

The port is actually pretty good, with some added custom UI options, only thing that bugs me is it takes away crosshair.
But man when you learn how to play, it floooows so well.

Did I mention there's also a romance with a hot Russian chick?

Would definitely try Vanquish sometime. Bayonnetta was good but over the top and silly.

My favourite is Metal Gear Revengence - it is more refined, fast with excellent swordplay, enemies, and clever bosses. The slicing and parrying in this are mini-games on their own.

I liked it, but definitely wouldn't call it more refined…quite the opposite, in fact. Zandatsu was too easily exploitable, camera issues, didn't have anything like Grace&Glory from Bayo. Felt like it needed some extra time in oven ( think Pt did it under a year by Kojima's request)
Vanquish has the best gameplay out of any Platinum game…only negative is music really doesn't follow how intense action is on the screen.

I played a bit of Prey tonight after grabbing it this weekend on the CDKeys $28 sale. In general I like what I am seeing … but didn't like my options for first 'upgrade' because I really don't know the scarcity of resources yet so making that directional choice is always problematic … oh well

Still playing System Shock 2. I also installed StarCrawlers, but I haven't really had a chance to try it yet.

I forgot how difficult SS2 can be. I'm playing on hard, and I actually reached a point where I thought I was going to have to start over because I was out of med hypos and low on nanites. Robotic enemies are a real challenge for the build I'm using, at least in the early going. I also forgot how annoying the respawn can be at times.

Never got around to playing Pillars of Eternity, so started that one last weekend. I guess the advantage is that by now it has been patched somewhat completely.
I'm playing it in our living room on our HTPC with a 4K TV. I can see a large part of the map now, with tiny characters. Good thing there is a zoom option
I've reached the castle now and it is an OKish game up to now. Exploration is however not that rewarding in my opinion. At least not yet.
So unless something happens that gets me excited (story, characters, exploration) this just might become another game I don't finish.

Cannot stop playing Vanquish, makes everything else feel flimsy in comparison.

For anyone jumping in, run Painkiller in background, during action, nothing else can follow it:

Know what you mean. Technically it has everything in place, but the game feels too…tame.
Just got through Dragonfall tutorial and one event at the end was more engaging than all the 30+ hours of PoE.

25hrs into Wasteland 2, and really wondering why it took me so long to play it in the first place. Loads of skill checks, and satisfying combat with amusing friendly fire incidents - great stuff. I also liked that there was a faction dispute where I couldn't figure out the middle way that clearly existed, so I reluctantly had to side with one group and wipe the others out. Seems to be some decent choice and consequence going on with some of the quests, so I can see it getting a second playthrough. Only things that have bugged me so far is one of the NPCs leaving my party for no reason I could see and taking a needed skill with her, and some weird design decisions such as the radiation suit that "disappears" when you wear it - I thought that was a bug at first. But overall its a fantastic game.

I do not know what it is, but I could not get into the game.
In theory, I should love this game as I enjoy turn-based combat, I enjoy story-based games, I enjoy so many things, but there is something that made me not enjoy this game.

I tried it multiple times, but it felt too shallow in some respects. I can't put my finger on a single element though.

Hope you keep enjoying it though.

I am playing through Battle Brothers and League of Legends (again).

Still haven't finished my playthrough of Expeditions Vikings. Waiting for a good relaxing weekend to do it and I haven't had one in a while.

WL2 was very good for a while, but the excessive skill-bloat and the activities required to loot even basic stuff killed it for me. Sometimes, you had to go through 3 skill checks (waiting on each and hoping it wouldn't fail) to loot a crate - and they rarely have much in them. But you don't know - so you want to loot most things as it's a scavenging game where you're relying on resources and ammo.

Also, the story grew rather dull and stale after around 20-30 hours.

Just not enough there for me.

I played a tiny bit of ESO and some more of Geneforge 1 over the weekend.

Jumped back into Tyranny. Think I'll finish this one, seems lot more interesting than PoE, at least.
Not really seeing where this "Evil has won" is coming from ( but Kyros brings equality!)… think this game would actually be better without rpg thropes or magic/supernatural element entirely.

Playing Expeditins Viking currently and so far it's a lot of fun. Too easy though, I think I need to up the difficulty. I wish there was more locations and random encounters to explore in the first part of the campaign. Just landed in England and I'm hopeful that there will be more to do here.
I also don't really know why I'm updating my homestead. I haven't seen any consequences or gameplay reasons so far.
Third thing is that I created a spear focused character which I'm really regretting. The special abilities for the spear are terribly dull. Is there any way to respec a character?

I'm playing Stalker Chernobyl for the first time. Lots of fun and tough even on wimpy mode. I'd love to see this as a Total conversion mod in Fallout-3 or 4's engine.

I felt that same until chapter 2 started. Then it all fell apart for me and went back to old "been there seen that".

Rimworld. Early impressions are good.

Deadly towers of monsters (in 3D Vision). Pretty fun, but i play it for shorter periods, its not something i could play for 2h straight..

INSIDE. this is so damn dark, it's bordering on making me depressed while playing. i always see myself as someone who would enjoy dark and rather depressing games, but i'm beginning to think this has changed a lot during the years.. i also dont like the animal cruelty that i've seen, it's not "fun" (pulling off a pig's tail?) or dark, just really tasteless to me. I'm thinking this studio is Swedish, at least it feels like a Swedish game dev. haven't googled.

Can't now remember who persuaded me into buying those games. Still collecting dust my backlog, but if you say it's fun and not another exhausting grind, maybe I should pull them out soon.
