This is why it makes more sense for me to purchase the DLC when they all become available in a single pack, rather than one at a time. Better value for money and waiting that little extra bit of time longer to make a new character will potentially make the game feel brand new with all the new content. I'm definitely doing that with New Vegas.

Indeed, that would certainly help. Unfortunately, I don't think an increased level cap would slow you down from being too powerful while still being fairly early in the game the way an xp reducer mod would.
I am insanely powerful thanks to running an unlimited companion mod. I barely fire on anything on my own (except in the DLC's). I actually don't care about combat in the game, I just find combat, well boring.
I am all about the roleplaying experience, but I play on Hardcore at Very Difficult. I made all companions essential through modding though. I pick armor based on what looks good, not what have the greatest stats.
I play what in RPG terms is usually called "the face". I see myself as the partyleader who do the talking, not the fighting. I have ten in CHA an 9 in INT. I maxed out Speech, Barter and Science early and taken all speech perks (like Terrifying Presence). Up to recently I had 24 in Guns. I started the game with 3 in STR/END so I always had really low hitpoints, get dehydrated and rad'd very quickly. This build isn't possible in vanilla FNV, just with mods due to the companion limit. They should have made companion limit equal to CHA, just like in the old games.

I see, thank you for the info. I was hoping for some way to have more "hands-on" control over companion's inventories and equipment, but at least there's an option.

It is (for me) quite a sight to see all the people I recruited attack my foes.
It's too bad that companions aren't as fleshed out as a traditional party-based RPG (both in terms of story, managing their inventories, and tactics), but I suppose that would be rather difficult to pull off given the open-world setting and the fact that companions are completely optional. One can dream though![]()

Just wanted to say that Honest Hearts was enough to reach the levelcap from 40-45. I intend to play Old World Blues without bothering about the levelcap this time.
