Download Daggerfall For Free!

I don't see this newsbit anywhere on this site but Elder Scrolls just posted this to Facebook.

Today is the 15 year anniversary of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. Download it for free on elderscrolls.com!

Its a 149 MB zip, not bad at all.

But they already released it free on the 15th anniversary of TES a few years ago

Hmmm, its a conspiracy! 15 years sounds about right. I remember buying Daggerfall long ago while in grad school so I think the age is right.

The link they supplied went pretty much straight to the download page.

Probably an Intern playing on the facebook account.

Who knows, anyway grab it if you want it.

Well it's now the 15th anniversary of TES II: Daggerfall (as opposed to TES in general), and I guess they were just pointing to the existing fact that it was still free to download from the link.

Still have my full boxed CD version within arms reach, so no need to download here

DaggerfallSetup has everything and installation is completely hassle-free.

The problem is the WIndows compatibility. I tried it once, but no luck.

edit: Now I see that they fixed the compatibility problem. I'll try this Setup Patch.

They released it on the 10th anniverary, 5 years ago.

Maybe next year they'll release Morrowind for free for its 10th anniverary!

Perhaps with an even more complicated install procedure hints sheet ?

I thought that was just Arena?

For the record…

Arena became a free download in 2004, and Daggerfall became free in 2009.

While people are talking about Daggerfall, don't forget the XLEngine: http://xlengine.com/

Currently it's not quite there for Daggerfall (and lately he's working on merging together the various game engines he's come up with) but fans of the game should definitely keep an eye on it.

I really hope that one day they finish the conversion with XLEngine, I'm really curious to try it .
