Anyone playing? I'm thinking of trying it - my first MMO - since it is supposed to be solo friendly.
Pet peeve though…
Anyone know if you can toggle disabling the *entire* HUD? I see so many clips that look fantastic but then you see others with the stupid radar, 212 buttons, xXX-LegolasRulz-XXx over heads and those hey look at me magic light frisbee's under that in case you missed me I'm-a-gigantic-spider-coming-right-at-you.

Apparently every class is supposed to be solo friendly. Some can conjurer creatures - I saw it in a youtube clip. Game looks great! Check out the LOTR Wiki class descriptions. The class "Guardian" is apparently very popular for solo. Frankly.. I want to try a hobbit! We'll see about THAT!

I would just stick with single player games. Every single MMO game that comes out says it is "solo" friendly, they are still exactly the same as every other MMO out there. A MMO is never going to have the story aspects that you get with a single player game and the core gameplay is always going to be based on repetition. Even games like "City of Heroes" you end of doing the same(or very similar) quest over and over again, quite frankly I don't see how that can be fun.

No idea, but why don't you just get yourself a Beta Key and have a look. It's not like Beta keys for Lotro are hard to get really.

After playing quite a bit of LOTRO I can say it is pretty solo friendly. More so than any other MMORPG I have played (EQ, EQ2, DAOC, Vanguard, Horizons).
Most of your exp comes from quests and there are a lot of quests, more than you can do in fact. Apparently there are solo quest lines right to the end of the game if you like. Killing monsters gives a fairly small amount of exp so the bane of most MMORPGS which is grinding is cut out. Some say they just swapped monster grinding for quest grinding but I much prefer this playstyle.
Honestly you need a lot of that stuff on screen in a MMORPG. LOTRO has one of the cleanest UIs out there for a MMORPG and it will get better once the game is released and people can mod it properly.
In beta there have been a bunch of screaming kids and just plain annoying people but that is why the devs give you the ignore command, I use it a lot and it really helps with immersion.
It is a good game, I would definitely say try it out when they go open beta.
