I am curious. What is the sound fix supposed to fix?

Sometimes these odd fixes that are suggested don't actually do anything but do to happenstance appear to fix a problem the discoverer was having.

Some have reported that many of their crashes to desktop have been stopped by the fix. But you're right, this early its hard to tell. It could have been they just burned in their copy (whatever that means), like me.

don't know if the sound change was the fix or I was just unlucky, but I crashed in the first 2 hours of the game. I applied the fix, and the next 5 sessions (about 15-20 hours total) haven't crashed again

Found an area that crashes all the time - you can't get passed it. Other than that area, I didn't have a single crash. It's called Bonechill Passage and if you experience the same thing, just play that area in windowed mode - it won't crash!
