Nah, I wouldn't need to compulsively save if I could trust the auto-save feature to do it for me(with reliable periodic autosaves that didn't overwrite each other).

I really don't see why they added a periodic auto-save feature that only works when you open the menu.

They didn't. You can have it autosave on travel, wait, and changing location too.

You can easily go over 30 minutes without opening your menu, going through an area transition door or waiting if you're traveling, thus not getting any autosaves.

Yeah, they should have a "save every N minutes" option and default it to 5 or 10.

Am I the only one who survives by hitting F5 every so often? I've never had a save corrupt on me or anything that would otherwise cause a problem with it.

Indeed, I use it all the time. I see no need to open up the menu every time I want to save the game.

Exactly, with F5/quicksave being so easy to do, it makes the autosave every n minutes missing tolerable….

I find that I use quicksave a lot at first and then as I play I use it less and less. With the autosaves I've never lost more than a few minutes play due to crashing with Skyrim.

Me neither but I'd bump autosaves up to 10 if I could. Sometimes autosave kicks in too often and I need to roll back further than it wants to go.
