Typing this on my new Kindle fire, this thing's pretty amazing. Full on web functionality (with Flash), music, video library and playback capability. Apps. Email. Oh yeah, you can read books on it too. ='.'=

Doesn't come w/ a "data plan" either, the whole thing was 200.00. So glad I didn't get the Ipad.

The only cheesy part is the downgrade in data/ charging cable, the old kindle came with a charging/Usb (modular) type of cable for charging and data transfer. This newer model is a straight charger, w/ an option to purchase a data cable. So a little bit of Appleonian scheming there, but I have the original cord from the first model so it doesn't bother me all that much.

Got Monster Beats headphones. Their 100x better than the ones I had before.

For a Christmas present to myself I bought Batman Arkham Asylum when it was 1/2 off on GamersGate, Rage and Pirate Zombies for a little over 4 dollars. Rage is a lot more fun than I first thought. The AI is better than I expected and Pirate Zombies was a surprise as well. It's a Plants vs Zombies type tower defense game.

Batman is still downloading though I expect it to be very good. All the reviews both from friends and online said this was a great game.

Hubby bought us an Xbox 360/w Kinect; I got The Force Unleashed along with it. But my favorite present still is what the Kid got: some kiddy Command & Conquer toys. Sheesh. The RC car and one of the guys do look like something straight out of the Brotherhood of Nod. And the tower itself … well . You need to farm Tiberium, err, I mean glowing energy stones to power your devices. Hmmm…

Gaming wise I didn't get anything (stupid Blizzard delaying Diablo 3), but I picked up Skylanders for my son, it's actually fun and could see myself buying some of the little figures for myself. Wish I had thought of it

@Skavenhorde:

I have been intrigued by Rage since before its release, but then it met with fairly mediocre reviews. Steam has it on sale for $20 US, and I think at Gamestop that's its new price as well. Is it worth it for that much? I don't have a Quad Core CPU (mine's a Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz), but I exceed the other minimum spedcs, how will it run with above medium settings?

I got a Blender. I also got a new headset for gaming, a book to write my songs into, and a Fender T shirt. Day isn't over, but I expect the annual gift card to JC Penny from my grandmother, and will probably be told to go pick out some tools from my grandfather's stock again.

Nice cutlery there, Jemy.

I wasn't sure what the C&c toys were all about, but yeah - weird but cool!

I also got:
Pathfinder Bestiary
Munchkin Deluxe edition
Star trek legacy (xbox)
Star Trek Bridge Commander (PC) I hope I can get it working on a modern pc
Delving deeper box set (old school rpg by brave halfling publishing) unfortunately it wont ship until early 2012

Me and my family decided to forgo giftss this year and just went out for dinner, but me and Tigress still spoil each other!

The kindle fire is amazing, almost like a little tablet Pc. I think its going to replace my netbook for my daily couch surfing

My wife bought me a copy of Skyrim because back in November I sneaked out and bought it without telling her. Now I have two copies.

Priceless!

So did you fess up, or are you now pretending to start playing for the first time?

Among several things is a new M950 mouse and a K750 keyboard. My daughter bought me a free flying lesson. That should be an interesting experience!!

I don't know how it will run on yours because I have a quad. It runs great on my computer.

The game itself is much like Borderlands, but not so silly. I didn't expect much from it, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how challenging the AI can be. They effectively use cover and if flanked they'll reposition.

The only part I don't like is the racing. You'll need to do a few races in order to proceed and get better parts for your vehicle. The races themselves are ok. You have different kinds from your usual time trials to races complete with rocket launchers. They'd be more fun if the driving mechanics were better. I'm still not use to how fast they stop/turn.

That aside I like the actual shooter part of the game a lot. I've got all kinds of different weapons I can use or make. I just bought the schematics for a tiny robot that helps you out in combat. Love that little guy. You make him from either buying the materials or finding them in your travels. There are many other things to make as well. Everything ranging from increased health tonics to making your own weapons.

There is a slight roleplaying aspect as well. Early on you have to choose what kind of armor you want to wear. You're given a choice of three different kinds. One allows you to take more damage, one lowers the prices at vendors and the last (which I picked) allows you to make better items.

I'm still early in the game, but other than the races I'd say that this game got a bad rap. It's a fun little shooter.
