Default Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition - Black Screen

July 7th, 2014, 01:51
Hey everyone.

I installed BG2:EE and I'm trying to play. I get to the part where I import my character, see a little cutscene and then the game is supposed to start, but instead, I just get a black screen. No sound, no visuals, just black.

I've tried disabling DEP protection, ran it as admin, disabled visual themes and all that junk (compatibility options), to no avail. Anyone have any ideas how I can get this thing working?

I'm using a Radeon 7970m if that helps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I told you about the EE, man. You're much better off just buying it from GOG so you don't have to deal with all the gamebreaking bugs it introduces. I'm afraid I can't help you but if this would have been about the original release I would.

For some reason the game is playing the death movie as soon as I load my character and start the game. My final save must be corrupted.

Edit - Yep, that was it. I loaded my final save in BG1 and my character was dead! Funny that that carried over to the new game. Re-played that final battle and stayed alive this time .

Whew, thank goodness that's solved!

Haven't noticed any game breaking bugs in BG2 EE.
