It's quite fun. Does require some coordination though. That key in the crypt was taxing.

Can you customize them? I'd like to know if I can make them larger or change their color. Are there options for hair?

Sorry… couldn't resist.

Does anyone know where this game saves the campaign progress? I'm one step away from doing a clean windows install and don't really want to start over again.

Well I want all my balls to be blue then. Another can't resist joke. When you lob them over the plate like that.

Ok, the battle at the end is a bit of a bummer. 3 playing fields, 3 bosses without checkpoints. Each can take a while to complete, and the last can wipe your party real quickly. Forces you to do all 3 over again. Only dark mark on a fun game.

I'm there right now! Had a glimpse at the second stage when my hunter tactic from field 1 failed due to a tragic death and then it quickly went downhill. Maybe I should upgrade a little more. My party is at level 7 and I don't have any of the hirelings.

Have you finished the battle yet or are you still in the "bummer" phase?

Haha. I just beat it. Yay! The advantage to having all the hirelings is that they can prevent you from running out of balls, and losing the level. Didn't really use them much, except for the awesome alchemist, in the earlier fields. Most important players for the finale is the healer (the most important ball throughout, actually), the hunter, and the thief for damaging the bosses. If you want some more hints let me know. And yes I upgraded everyone completely. The Baron's bedroom is a great level to farm gold.

Congrats! Nah, I'll try to tackle the level a bit myself before I come back for help. Your last sentence was the answer to the only question I had — where to get money for all those hirelings. I used the mining town so far. Perfect thief level with all those marks, uh… NPCs standing around waiting to be robbed, with nary an enemy in sight, but after a while I wouldn't mind a change of scenery.

You know what this kind of reminds me of? That Sonic pinball game (was that the title? "Sonic Pinball"? Can't seem to remember) for Sega. That one was hard as balls , but man was it addicting. I never did beat it. Gosh, I might need to dig out my old Sega Genesis for the first time in years! Anyone else played that one?

Yea, the mining level is a great idea. I liked the thief stealing from the town people, with funny little comments.

Of course, the real question everyone has been asking, probably, is this —

Is Rollers of the Realm a CRPG?

Answer: Yes, in a way, but only barely. It's a CRPG-ish game, like, an Action Puzzle RPG, which also happens to be exactly what it is advertised as. However, since you can't really develop your characters' stats or abilities directly, just through item purchases, it could also be called just an "Action Puzzle game with some RPG elements"…

Rollers of the Realm

Classification: CRPG Subgenre
Subgenre: Action, Puzzle

Design: High Fantasy
Theme: Good vs. Evil
Setting: Medieval, Alternate World
Combat Style: Real-time
Reward System: Experience
Play Style: Single-player
Point of View: Isometric
Color Palette: Whimsical
Control: Full Control
Voice Acting: Fully Voiced
Character Backstory: Predefined
Playtime: 10-20 hours
Funding model: Indie

Spoiler – Complete CRPG analysis for Rollers of the Realm

This fact sheet was created using CRPG Analyzer 1.01 Beta.

I don't like the boss fights either….

Why is there no save point after defeating each boss. That's just stupid.

I tried it a few times and i don't like doing the same thing over and over again unless there's a good reason for it.

There isn't in this case.

Let me know when they change this.

Other than that it's a fun little game.
Played it for six hours or so and for 7£ that's quite good.

Simple yet fun game…

Also don't underestimate the witch…. Her storm pulverises enemies and can heal the flippers too

Well, apparently the developers are adding a checkpoint system to the final battle :

Sounds good.

Meanwhile, I hired my first additional character (alchemist) and realized that they are full-fledged characters that need to be upgraded! Boy, am I going to need loooots of gold.
