PC Gamer - Windows 10 Leaked Build Pushes XBox

I think it would be smart for MS to turn Windows 10 into an Xbox emulator. After all, MS makes money from game sales, not so much from the console hardware.
But things are not equal, in the sense that they have a mountain to climb in making Linux an accepted mainstream gaming OS. I hope they succeed, as that would be my favoured option.
What I'm suggesting is that MS could ape that strategy, but with the massive advantage of already being the dominant PC gaming OS. They should change their conception of "Xbox" to essentially match Steambox (open to all hardware vendors and home builds), but with a cutdown, free, gaming version of Windows as its OS, and their own game store at the centre, taking their cut.

The issue comes when everyone is talking a game up to high heaven and I buy it like an idiot trusting everyone. Like with Dark Souls. I downloaded the dsfix and mouse fix, etc, but I am way to rooted in science and being civilized to play a game with such a monkey-focused control scheme. It is unplayable and is wasted money that supports exactly what I never want my money to support.
But some games I enjoy playing with a game controller on the PC. I played Dark Souls 1 and 2 on the PC using an Xbox 360 controller. I'm also playing Assassin's Creed IV with a game controller. These kinds of games make sense with a controller (at least to me anyway) and so I happily use them.
I'm not sure what I think of about the Xbox One emulator on Win10… honestly I just don't know enough about it. But if it's something you can use or ignore, I probably won't care one way or another. But if Win10 is going to have some weird Xbox One dashboard as the default UI, then yeah, I'd be aghast. But that isn't what they are pitching from what I've read.

It's PC. It is not inferior hardware, it's not a toaster.
The current consoles are probably about as powerful as my current PC.

Fuck you games with lists for inventory or ridiculous controller savage menus and other savage little kid console bullshit. I want to shoot the people in the face on the steam forums who whine about controller support. Buy a fucking console. PCs are for civilized and superior kb&m or gamepad and mouse. Just like modern houses are made with in door plumbing and running hot water and electricity, keep your fucking honey pots and outhouses for camping and for those living in teepees. Keep console shit on the consoles for the monkeys, and let me have civilized input devices and menus and inventories made for civilized folk who believe in science and progress.
LOL, hahaha what? I really and sincerely hope this is sarcasm.

Sounds fine to me, promoting their flagship gaming platform… pretty normal?

And that is why we stick to Windows 7 and steer clear of all this vertical integration and dumbfuckery.

This thread became really funny, I actually also hate console focused menus but I prefer it to not getting to play the game on the PC at all….

To me even Windows 8.1 bothers me, I don't want to be forced to get news update from Microsoft and let them track me, and having them rub their dumb "app store" in my face at every occasion. This is a wretched abomination, nothing less.
Not to mention the "hot corners", the single worst UI trait ever devised by mankind. I STILL haven't been able to get rid of them all on my laptop.

Steam is out of question. It's not convenient, it's not easy to use, it's not simple and fast. It's terrible.Bothka:

Actually people have backported DirectX 11 into Windows XP, so I wouldn't be so sure.

I know that there is a half-broken DX10 implementation for XP (broke my system with it once), but never there never was one for dx11.

Out of the box there are several issues with 8.1. But after minor adjustments, on a day to day basis I don't notice any significant differences from 7.
Pibbur who is at version 60 and who likes the term "abomination", but reserves it for other, in his eyes more serious things.
