Joystick?

I bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro but this thing is a piece of junk. I'm sending it back.
I used to have an old school MS Sidewinder Pro and that thing rocked, I lost it long ago tho.
Which one do you like?

I'm still using my Sidewinder Force Feedback - going strong since 1998! I don't know if you can still get them.

Oh, hey, I didn't mean it like that! I'm just saying those things were built to last, and they're the ones I'd still buy today. There's a ton of them on ebay, it seems: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/microsoft-sidewinder-joystick

I was just joking about feeling bad, that why I put in the smilely face. Mostly.

I was actually thinking about getting the Extreme 3D Pro. What is so bad about it?

I'm pretty happy with my Saitek X-52 Pro, which I bought exclusively for Star Citizen. It's also fantastic with Elite Dangerous.

I generally love Logitech products but this one is a dud.

That Saitek does look really nice. Can't justify spending that much on joystick right now, but hopefully in the future.

I splurged for sure, as I wanted something really solid for Star Citizen. I'm sure you can get a fine one for a cheaper price, though.

How does the Saitek X-52 Pro compare to Thrustmaster? I definitely need a good joystick for Star Citizen, and remember Thrustmaster made some great joysticks back when I used them. Looking at either the HOTAS Warthog or the T.Flight HOTAS X. I also read the Saitek X-55 Rhino is very good.

The T.Flight HOTAS X is the cheapest (~$60) and is the best entry level HOTAS on the market. That's what I own and I use it in Star Citizen Arena Commander, although you need to rebind stuff.
The Warthog is the most expensive (in general around $500 for lack of supplies) and apparently the god of HOTAS.
The Saitek x-52 Pro and x55 Rhino are around $200, I've seen people comment on how the x-52 Pro suffered from quality controls in the past, but the x55 Rhino has worst customer review score in general so.
You might find cheaper Saitek and Warthog used or on reseller or ebay though.

Thanks Azarhal.
I'm sure I'll be building a new computer before SC arrives. Absolutely loved the WC series and Privateer was my all-time favorite game for over a decade. Very glad Chris Roberts is finally able to make the game he always wanted to make.

I've been very happy with my X-52 Pro, though I admit I haven't used it that much - so I don't know how it will last.
That said, AFAIK, most issues are with the non-pro version, and I've seen a generally high level of positive feedback on the Pro. That's largely why I picked it
Without being an expert, it feels like a solid quality joystick - and I've yet to experience an issue with it. Well, except that it takes up half my physical desktop - but I guess that's the price you pay for HOTAS
