Known Issues and workarounds
March 27th, 2015, 19:33
Obsidian created a thread where they list known issues with possible workaround.
There is a few crashes and performance issues listed right now. I expect it to grow.

I'm glad I read that forum thread last night as I had the annoying SFX repeating bug after playing a few hours. Obsidian said it should already be fixed in the next patch.
One workaround for now is to disable all tool-tip messages.

YES.
ANNOYING BUG: the sound of a tool tip opening, repeating ENDLESSLY, like 4 times a second.
Ah well, wait for a patch.

I remember someone complaining about lost saves. On the official support forum someone said that disabling Steam Cloud save brought back his saves.

I had an issue at R's Keep - I "dragged" them into a nearby room to dictate the field of combat and after winning the fight the quest wouldn't advance. I've seen others post the same issue at the official forums. The solution for me was to redo the battle at the location of the encounter - after winning it that way the quest resolved properly.

Still not playing the game. Did Hidden start it already?

The relatively devastating bug, posted to Reddit by kiror yesterday, happens when a player tries to swap out a piece of equipment on a character with an item in their inventory by double-clicking the inventory item—a relatively standard role-playing game practice. Doing so will remove a character's racial abilities, passive powers and permanent buffs.Offtiopic below!
.
While players are reporting that dismissing NPC party members and then re-adding them to the party resets their passive and racial buffs, others claim that doing so triggers another bug that removes all items from the NPCs' inventories.
Other players are using the game's built-in cheat console and the "addability" command to rebuild their characters' abilities. Note that using the cheat console disables Steam achievements.
Obsidian is aware of the issue and have a (hopefully retroactive) fix already made, but have to extensively test any update before it's rolled out, just in case they screw up the game again.

You're missing out on one the most fun RPGs in years. It's better than Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and the Sims. No Bioware points either. Just saying….

Oh I know it's one of the most fun RPGs - it also has no ME3, DA3 and other goddamned let's suckup to some cretinous CEO with multiplayer.
But I'm on a certain uPlay run and… Don't want to break my immersion into a certain story, no matter how bad, repetitive and annoying those games are.

Joxer, I think I may have found a dealbreaker for you. I wandered into a temple I had cleared previously…
And there it was… a spider, all alone! Where did it come from? Was it the newly departed's long-lost cousin? Or could it have been something far more sinister? Could it have been… a RESPAWN!? Tread lightly, Joxer.

Yeah, I paused my MMX run for this event. It really should be a site wide party.
I knew that would happen.

I'm pretty sure the bear in the first wilderness map is enough to be a deal breaker for Joxer…

Meh, ran into my first bug. I don't know how long my Eder has been running around with 132 deflection… I thought fighters were just *that* good…
I dismissed and re-recruited him but he's still up at 73 (+15 guardian = 88) deflection. My question is: what is his usual deflection rating? He still has 30+ more deflection than anyone else in my party even after dismissal with pretty much the same gear.

I think I'm going to have to shelve the game until the first patch. Ran into a few serious bugs and definitely want to see them fixed before going further, since it's quite frustrating at the moment. Hopefully they are fixed soon!

I tracked down one way to reproduce this; I don't know if this is how it happened, but it could very well be as I know I quit to the menu at least once while in the Gilded Village to try my hands at creating some other character.
1.Go to the location where a companion was recruited. [Only tested for Eder/Gilded Vale and Kana/Caed Nua]
2.Save the game.
3.Quit to the menu.
4.Load the game.
5.Observe that the stats of the NPC have now increased by the value of his equipment stat bonuses and modal actions like defender mode.
6. ….and if you feel like abusing this or just testing how absurd it can get, save and go through the steps 2-4 again
In the following save based on the Black Marsh save from the original report I went to Gilded Vale and did it a few times for Eder, then went to Caed Nua and did it a few times for Kana while equipping him with as many booster items as I could. I'm sure everybody will agree that Kana with 63/82/60/82 defenses, 18 Con, and 24 Int at level 4 is a pretty impressive chanter. [LOL!](To be clear: Both Eder and Kana wore stat-boosting equipment during this test in both Gilded Village and Caed Nua, but only Eder's increased in Gilded Vale and only Kana's in Caed Nua when doing this.)

That's an interesting leveling up mechanic. Makes up for missing XP for enemy kills.

As much as I'd like to play this game now, I'm satisfied with letting the rest of you continue to beta test it for awhile.
Truth be told, I don't have the time right now to truly immerse myself in a game like this anyways.

I guess I should feel lucky that I haven't encountered any bugs so far. Hopefully that streak continues! Seems like a stable release for Obsidian's standards, anyway, with only a couple serious issues being reported.
Does anyone know if re-balancing will be a part of the next patch? Now that I'm fairly comfortable with the stats, rules, and systems, I kind of don't want to see that messed with right now.

Frankly, noone should be playing right now. Stat-increase bugs are running rampant in the current build. Despite telling myself that I should wait two weeks… I foolishly stepped into the mire and now regret it (yay for demi-god fighter companion simply from saving/reloading the game in the first town…).
And, before the obligatory, "well, I'm not bugged" posts, given the ease with which these bugs propagate, you're either unaware of the bugged character or incredibly lucky.
Time to read a book or futz around in Skyrim a bit. I'll start the game over in a couple weeks with a fighter that can't tank the gates of Hell single-handedly at level 4.
