Steam Streaming Setup
April 26th, 2015, 21:48
Hello all!
I just want to post my little setup here, maybe influencing some people to try this out and see what they think.
I currently am Steam In-Home Streaming games across my network to an Alienware M17x R4 laptop, and absolutely LOVING it. Here's why.
With the laptop, I can lounge in bed or play downstairs, whereas my desktop is permanently in the same place (duh!). So, it's really convenient and great.
I also have an older Dell XPS laptop that can handle streaming as well, so I use that one for downstairs and the Alienware for upstairs, and it's pure gaming heaven, really.
Here's the thing. Make sure you have a decent wireless card, or even use a wired connection to a hub to get the most out of the streaming process. For example, my Alienware has a problem with the Killer N wireless card, so I keep it plugged in to the network and the games run 100% beautifully without a hitch, in super high quality, thanks to my powerful desktop, pretty much.
So there you have it. I urge some of you to check out this in-home streaming feature. It's absolutely great to not be tied to my desk at all times when I want to do some gaming.
Peace!
