If you are doing (or trying to do) the quest to collect all the Gwent cards, make sure you play all the Gwent players before embarking on any quest in the area to win their card - sometimes the citizens aren't who they appear to be and you can end up killing them. And if you kill someone or they otherwise pop their clogs before you get your Gwent card then you can't complete the Gwent completion quest - at least I don't think these unique cards are available elsewhere.
EDIT: Another: Crossbows aren't very effective on land, at least unmodified, but they are very effective as harpoon guns under water - you can in fact one shot drowners with it.

Everyone knows that crossbow can be used to force flying enemies to land, if you have issue with the aiming go for Axii. It works as well (on mobs not immunized), it literally stun creatures in the air and they fall down. Sorta hilarious on Harpies.

Yeah, I realized that after I sold mine of course. So, am I screwed or will it be possible to get it back somehow, later on?
At some stage I think one will need to decide what type of armour to go for. I'm thinking of light armour, which regens stamina - since I'm going for a kiting build (quick attack) with points added to signs, which require stamina.

Another thing, I'm thinking (I haven't got far enough to tell for sure) is that you will probably get quite a lot of skill points in the game, so it won't matter that much if you change your mind about your build - I reckon the limiting factor will be the number of slots available (12) rather than points. And maybe one could different builds for different purposes.
EDIT: Oh and later of course you can buy a respec if you really screwed up

I need a spoiler who those persons exactly are!!! I don't want to kill anyone with a card! Can I find it on some site?
Geez, what if I already killed someone with a card, I'll now kill myself!

Yup, Keira sells such pot for 1K very early in the game, probably some others have it listed too in the shop but seen it on her after helping her with magic lamp.![]()
I'm not using them at least not until I get stuck, cos its really spoilerish - just being really careful to play the NPCs as soon as I meet one. And hint - I can no longer talk to one NPC that has a card - but fortunately I nabbed it advance.
I suppose it is possible to choose a story branch or some quest option that removes a Gwent NPC from the game before you even meet them - apparently if you skip the tutorial you miss a card, but CDPR promised to make that available later.

That's something I want to get through exploration.
I just want a list of NPCs I shouldn't kill before taking a card from unless the game is designed to replicate a card from lost NPC somewhere else.

There is a level 6 quest for a dude with the initials BB, who has a unique card you can miss if you don't play him before certain things happen.

I thought I had very good cards now with my one deck…
Playing a guy that has a Geralt and Ciri card
they are both 15 point cards.
Edit…I beat him ocne but didn't get one of those cards so I tried to kill him but the game won't let me.

Yep, I find that I have to do that more on the hard difficulty, now that I've ramped it up. But, it was too easy before.

I think that's kind of explained by the monsters being territorial, or, in the case of cursed creatures, being bound to that area by the curse.

You couldn't do this in the other two.

True, it's lame that you can exploit it. I simply choose not to.
Some monsters, like Werewolves, will regenerate their health. I think they should have designed it so that all monsters regenerate if you exceed a certain distance from them.
