Content… I believe even Skyrim can't beat the amount of bears in DA3 so DA3 is easily the game with most content out there. Does the amount of content make the game great?

Maybe we should concentrate on nonrepetitive content.
And when it comes to the amount of nonrepetitive content, it's hard to find anything that can come even close to TW3. IMO.

The main problem I have with both Skyrim (in its Vanilla incarnation) and DA:I is that they both have fallen victim to levelling fever, presumably in order to capture the limited attention span of the great unwashed masses. But, fast levelling just doesn't work in open world games, unless you massively scale monster levels by area too - but that defeats the whole object of an open world game, since lowbies just get pawned if they venture outside some small radius… The result is in both those games, unless you are rusher and ignore most of the content, you quickly become much too powerful and the game becomes boring.

That's something that Witcher 3 has largely avoided by making the levelling curve much flatter - although I still expect to out level the content at some stage with my slow playstyle.

Let's stay on topic. This thread is about Gwent.

Is there any explanation why the Zoltan Chivay card is playable in any deck?

*Edit* Ah because it's a "hero" card, right?

Really? What good is a 4-point hero?

Some cards are neutral cards, which means they can be played in any deck. Not all hero cards are neutral, I think Yennefer, Geralt and one other are neutral.

Oh the other neutral is Ciri .

Everyone talks about this Ciri card. So far Yen is the only OP card I've seen and have her in my deck, another superOP card is 0 strength spy Novigrad traders use against me, dunno where to get that one but can live (an win) without it.

Noone played Ciri against me so dunno how does it even look like. Where do I get that card?

Yeah a 7 point hero medic you can play in any deck is a little better than poor fucking infantry . I haven't found Ciri yet either - but you could always google it if you *really* need to know where it is. I expect that with so many cards in all the decks it could get quite frustrating tracking down the last ones, but I'm not there yet.

From one of the quest related Gwent players. I think it was part of the Novigrad chain, but I'm not quite sure. Ciri and Geralt are both 15 point hero cards, the only two cards above 10.

There are a few Novigrad chains.
Finally found Ciri card.
You have to move the main story forward where in a bathhouse you meet a certain (won't spoil that) person who you can play against for a special card and then (s)he'll point you to Roche (this I spoil because everyone knows Roche will appear).
Now Roche, after beating him for his card, sends you for a gwent player who has the Ciri card.

Ciri card is str 15 infantry with no special effect other than immunity on weather and scorch, sorry, but IMO Yen is still the most powerful card in my deck.
As said, the only other hero card I've seen so far better than Yen is strength 0 infantry spy you play on the opposite side to draw 2 cards from your deck. Many use it against me, but I still didn't find it anywhere.
Why is it so superior? Not only it's 0 strength and thus won't add to enemy's total, but it's a hero card and opponents can't pick it up with dummy dolls!
If and when I find this card, I'll post it here.

While not OP as Yen and that spy, Ciri card is still a must have.

The problem with hero cards is they are not only immune to opponent effects, but to your's too, so you can't revive them with a medic or enhance them with a war horn - something that cost me one game . For that reason, I'm not sure that 10 points and below heroes are really worth the candle, when your deck starts to fill out - I'd much rather have a bonding set, spy, medic… and some high valued catapults I can double up with a war horn. I think when I get Geralt and Ciri, I'll probably just leave the lower valued heroes with no bonuses out of my deck.

Has anyone beat the assistant blacksmith at crow's nest? I had to come back with better cards and luck to beat the baron, but her monster deck is insane, scoring 140 points in one round.

Yeah, just put at least two bitter frosts in your hand and spies - to increase your chance of drawing bitter frost & because Northern realms has melee spies, whose disadvantage is negated by bitter frost. Her main offensive is the crones and she has another melee muster, so when that comes out you can just scotch it with bitter frost. Also you can use use third foltest leader to enhance your catapults, as she probably won't have fog. Also one decoy and a burn are useful.

TW3 is like playing 50, 20 hour games. There are so many games within the game.

Shame you can't kill people and take their gwent cards lol lol.

I tried the tournament with having a deck rated at 172 with the Ciri card but lost in the second row twice so back looking for more cards.

You can't get their full deck, but you can get at least one card in at least one case.
Spoiler

For all gwent addicts like me, just to add, Triss' sidequest "a matter of life and death" is a must do! Upon entering an area where it takes place there is a mini tournament where you get 3 new cards from beating three opponents:
Spoiler

I still didn't find the mysterious elf spy card anywhere, but will try the tournament now. Wish me luck.

I have all those cards and good luck in the tournament I have tried it a couple of times with a very good deck and lost three times now.

LOL beaten it.
Had to reload once on the first opponent, he destroyed my siege weapons right in his last move.
Then second and third come in a row, no problems with them, won them instantly. And also the last one. Maybe I was lucky?
I can list up my deck, but basically what pushed me forward are 3 dummy dolls, spies, Yenn and siege healer.

A word of warning. The quest is definetly for high level players.
I'm level 17. Seriously, anyone who wants to go for it, the reward is four leader cards, nothing you can't live without. I wish I didn't rush on it because it took me too much of time to finish the fights involved.

For some reason that elf (I actually think he was a half-elf) was harder to beat than Durden the Tailor..
