On food? Then you're probably playing on hard setting. I'm playing on the third dunno what's it called, but the one that won't restore health when you meditate.
It looked like normal and I always play games first time on normal. The other two lower looked like easy and casual.
I do believe it's normal because some fights did get a bit easy, but some were challenging when a bunch of trashmobs I can't parry jump on me and a werewolf, although not outlevelling me much (I was level 4, quest suggested level 6), I couldn't beat at all (left him for later).
Didn't have to buy food anywhere yet, have plenty of it from looting. Swallow does the trick while in fights. I did take some "sun" whatever abiility so while I'm just exploring it does regenerate.

Loot everything!
This is RPG, you're supposed to loot barrels and find all illogical stuff in them!
Unless you're playing dogooder Geralt…
Avoid looting guarded containers ofc, if you try that guards will attack you and are usually near level 30, you can't win them early.

Do I (after Dragon Age: Bears) look like wildlife hunter?
Fur and meat you can get easily by nailing hans, ducks, cows, pigs etc in villages.

I can't go Skyrimming(is that even a word) in this game. With Skyrim I had mindless fun just running around trying to get to the top of mountains or finding the next cave that was the same as the last cave.
I just can't do that in this game every where you go there is content and a lot of it.
Maybe that isn't a complaint at all….

It certainly means I'm exploring a lot more cautiously, because you can run into a situation that actually requires thinking, sort of…
May 27th, 2015, 03:07
You can't go Skyrimming here because there is no bloody annoying dragon above Mage's Guild lurking, waiting for you every single time you fasttravel there.

One thing I do really dislike is that they allow you to go into the homes of every villager and remove everything that isn't nailed down, even if the family is at home - you can snuck stuff from under their noses and they don't bat an eyelash.
Considering how well designed the rest of the game is for the most part, I can't understand how they thought this was a good idea: Geralt may be a gruff character, but surely one doesn't want to play him as a common thief. And besides having to go into every house and painstakingly sort through the peasants belongings does not add to gameplay in the slightest.
I rather think that this obsession with huge amounts of loot started with the explosions of useless loot that the original Diablo had and devs now think that players won't be happy if they aren't laying their theiving fingers on stuff every five seconds or so. IMOP most RPGS would be much better with 1/4 the amount of loot (make that a 1/10 for skyrim!
).

I am sure there is a lot of pressure out there to give the MASSES loot to collect so that could be one reason but doesn't explain why in the other games it was similar.
Though if this is the worst mistake of the game that they wasted time putting useless waste into the game then so be it.

I don't have a problem with the way looting is done. What is a peasant going to say to a Witcher anyways? Soldiers or bandits on the other hand will react if you try to loot their stuff.

So I've killed a few algouls now (nasty bastards) and still no bestiary entry.

The only bigger issue I have is the loading of NPCs when I enter an area. This very commonly happens. NPCs sometimes only see to get loaded/become visible when I get close to them. Sometimes I even see their name tags above where their bodies should be, and then they pop-in. I hope they fix this issue. If this is a performance issue, where NPCs are loaded on a background thread, I would expect this to happen on consoles, but since it's happening on my i7 4790K I'm not sure. I hope it's a bug and that it gets fixed.
EDIT: Awesome, seems it's a known issue, and they're investigating it.

"Please don't nick all my stuff and ransack my village, cos if you do we are all going to starve" or….
"A witcher doesn't make trouble, he makes trouble go away" or…
"If you nick that I'm not going to give you the gwent card you need to complete your quest".
Take your pick
. I mean you can't be serious - if you want to play Geralt as a thieving ratbag, thats your prerogative, but it isn't how CDPR designed the game. So its a defect from an immersion POV for those who notice that sort of thing.
