I haven't messed with any config files. I'm fairly satisfied with how it looks and runs now.

Fair enough, but it gave me a visible boost in performance

I'm assuming it's the line that reads "HairWorksAALevel=8"? I changed it to 4 to see what effect it has. Maybe I'll try 2 as well.

Interestingly enough, I see there's a line that reads "UberSampling=0" I wonder if the devs are planning to implement that with a patch at some point.

Yeah, that's the line. The file in question is the one where the game is installed - not the one under Documents.

I've got it at 2 - which is where it had the most impact.

They'll probably add a bunch of stuff in a future Enhanced Edition

Well, one can hope.

Do you still need to set the ini file to readonly, so that the game doesn't overwrite it? And can you still change the in-game settings after you do?

AFAIK, the setting in question only changes if the game is patched or you mess around with the Hairworks setting in-game.

Alright, I'll finally fool around with it then when I get home. So far, I've stayed away from it, but I've been eyeing this setting since you first mentioned it, because I was still messing around with in-game settings. I do get noticeable slowdowns on closeups of Geralt's hair.

I bought the game for PS4 as well but I couldn't get my self to play it much on the PS4 after getting used hairworks on the PC!! Also the colours, shadows and lighting looks much much better on the PC.

I haven't had chance last to night to check my setting but mine isn't over clocked that much. I guess I might have some other setting turned down. I think I did turn off bloom and motion blur but not much else so will check properly.

I like the hairworks more than I expected to also.

At 1920x1080 using a 980m (not overclocked), I get mid 40s fps with everything on Ultra and hairworks on. I haven't dug into the ini file yet for tweaking but I did install the Witcher specific video drivers.

Not bad for a laptop I think.

Have you actually benchmarked it?

I really don't think you're getting that high of a framerate on Ultra with a 980m. The 980m is really fast for a mobile GPU, but it's still only 60% to 75% as fast as a desktop 980 depending on the game.

That's what Fraps is telling me. It's smooth for sure, I haven't had a slowdown or pause yet.

Also, the first set of numbers on that page is unplugged. The second set are plugged in numbers.

I checked last night. I have Hairworks but not HBAO instead SSAO. I also have the following

Shadows = high
Amount of NPC = low
Motion blur, bloom = off

I was averaging 35 FPS most of the time.
