Hidden Evil
October 19th, 2007, 02:08
I started working on an indie Flash RPG back in May called Hidden Evil:
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~hamms/he/index.html
At this link you will find the combat demo, which you can start with a party of 5 pcs and explore a small dungeon. There are many different spells, one addable NPC, and a dozen different monsters.
The original version has bitmap backgrounds and is not being updated any more due to performance issues for many people. The vectors-only version should run more smoothly.
There is much more information on the site.

Update, December 5, 2007:
The demo has been converted to vector-based backgrounds for maps, which solves *some* peoples' slowdown issues. This version has not been as extensively tested as the original. Most of it was pure graphic swapping, so hopefully it works at least as well.
I've added a Dancing Vector Sprites Gallery on the site showing every creature created for Hidden Evil, several of which didn't make the demo. Includes animations too!
The last fight, against the horde of undead, is not intended to be winnable. I've never been able to beat it in any case.
In other news, I've come to a dead halt regarding saved games. Without being able to save, making anything more complicated than the current demo is pointless. This means future development may just have come to a screeching halt. I am pleased that I can at least add what I have accomplished to my portfolio.
