About to install this 1999 game, but assume will have trouble with a normal install. Google wasn't very helpful.
Any suggestions on how to best do this?
Use DosBox? Settings?
Just buy the Gog or Steam version?

Thrasher,
Sorry for the late reply, I just installed JA 2 (GOG version) on my Windows 7 64-bit without problems. The only issue I found out was a Windows message telling me the program stopped working, when I quit the game. I fixed this error by running the game in WinXP compatibility mode (IDK if this will arise other errors).
Also, people everywhere recommend to not install the game neither in 'Program Files' nor in 'Program Files (x86)' folders, because access permissions or something like that.
Hope it helps!

I may try xp compatibility mode, since it frequently becomes unresponsive, and I have to save, exit, restart.

For me it ran perfectly fine in Win7 with 2 exceptions:
Same as henriquejr every time I quit the game i received the message that it stopped working.
Also during playing the game it changed the windows color scheme.
In addition if you run multiple screens I recommend the program "Cursor lock" so you don't accidently switch tasks as I guess that's not too healthy for the game either.
