Ah, the joys of corporate firewalls. I always get to see loading… and nothing else

Are you sure it's not just because you're using Internet Explorer?
I have the same issue with videos on this site because of IE.
Temporarily allowing all scripts in noScript enables the video though (or more specifically you need to enable the googleapis.com scripts for the embedded video to work).

Wow… that reviewer… 980gtx and has frame dips into the teens? lol…
Really good, extensive, honest review.

RPGamer gave it a 3/5. Reviewer played the PS4 version, but it's not like there's any significant difference between the versions (other than that the PC version will eventually have a bunch of mods). The staff there aren't paid so I tend to trust that their scores actually reflect their honest opinion more than a lot of the larger review sites that need that ad revenue.

Well, I have absolutely no desire to play Bethesda's latest FPS / walking simulator with RPG elements. I expect a ton of fetch quests and X marks the spot to go here and kill Y quests. Most reviews pretty much confirm my expectation that it is all style over substance. I understand why people who just live for looting / inventory managment (i.e., virtual pack rats) might love such a game, but that's just not enough for me.
Too many proper CRPGs have been released this year that I haven't completed (or in the case of WL2 haven't even started yet). Maybe I'll pick up FO4 someday when it's for sale on GOG- which probably won't be for awhile considering FO3 / NV aren't even on there yet. But by then there will probably be several more installments that with prettier graphics. Definitely not going to waste my money now.

People play Fallout and Elder Scroll games because you can do what you want and don't have to pay attention to quests that utterly bore people. Maybe it's because playing CRPG's since the 1980's I have seen all these quests before and they do not excite me that much. I would rather go off and explore and do my own thing and test my build against the monsters out there. Exploration and strategy are the reasons I love sandbox games.
Add mods to the mix and you can really play the game you want. The best times I had with Skyrim was playing a miner and blacksmith. Modded the game so the monsters were harder and added new creatures. I did not even follow the dragon story line.
Sorry but most books are better then stories in video games. Bethesda games can be played like a blank book where you are the writer and that is much more exciting to me. Don't get me wrong theme park games can be fun but there are very few well made sandbox games out there.

I despise sandbox and that's why I hated Skyrim so much. But Fallout seems different from Skyrim thank god. Well, at least it's start.

It reminds me of a movie I saw a Long while ago, can't remember the name.
Basically, the guy wakes up and finds out he's reliving the same day, over and over. So he has fun for a while, but becomes bored to death. So he tries to mess around with things, but again ends up being bored to death. Can't remember, how it ended actually…probably ended up killing himself.
Most of the time, you receive no reaction of any kind from anything to whatever you do. At best, you may see only generic responses that lack any sense of characterization or actual human, intelligent response that actually makes it a story, worth a damn.
To me, that seems more like goofing around and using your imagination while pretending to see something that simply isn't there. It can be fun, no doubt about it… but only for a very limited time, until you realize how pointless it is.

Yes, that's it! I watched it, whew…ten or more years ago?, had a mental image of a squirrel when trying to remember it. Thought I was going crazy there for a moment.

Doesn't get boring for me. But I have a wild imagination. That's why I like to be the dungeon master I guess. It's also why in games like Heroes of Might and Magic I like to play random maps and single maps because the campaign stories always seem to bore me.

Life is pretty pointless when you get down to it. So is existence for that matter. In the end it is all pointless. Does any game really have any meaning? Calling it pointless seems rather subjective to me. And there isn't really anything *in* any game either - is just bits and bytes with hard coded stuff by the developer. People will see as much or as little as they want to see in their games. People have fun with what they like.
I know I like sandbox games because I have a vivid imagination and I like being able to play out things. 4 years on Skyrim. 4 years playing 3 dozen games. One or the other its all the same in end.
People play how they like and what they enjoy whether its using ones own imagination or having someone else do the imagining for you … or some where in between.

Merely pointing out that calling something pointless is relative and subjective.
What has meaning in life is what each individual gives to it - whether life or a game or anything in between - just a matter of scale.

Another "shoot a human in the face eight times at point blank range with a machine gun, and they still don't fall" game?

I like these games better than games where instead of simply opening barrels or crates for loot like decent human beings the player character smashes them to pieces. *sigh* Yes, I'm looking at you, Sword Coast Legends.
