Default This game has a serious XP problem

Whatever you do or not do, you'll level up superfast.
I don't see how JDR's mod can help, I applied norespawn mod and it did tone it down, but is not nearly as effective as I hoped.

Actual problems are not irrelevant XP amounts from lockpicking, hacking, upgrading and settlement building (assuming you won't grind on those all day long).

I've refused to use Idiot Savant perk (triple XP bonus randomly) but my intelligence stat is high because without it I cannot have related perks I want/need.
Also I don't use food that grants XP bonus for a while nor other actions (praying in DC chapel, sleeping in an area with LI, etc).

I still feel I'm getting levels too fast. Now I'm constantly finding mobs that grant me 50xp per kill and in some even more. While finished quest will reward me with 200-300XP, a bunch of random encounter or radiant quest trashmobs killed adds ways higher amount than that.

Seems like Bethesda designed the game to force levelup like crazy.
Is there any proper way to avoid this from happening and still enjoy the game? Is there a mod that puts 0-1 XP on all mobs including bosses?

It's not fun - by this rate not only I'll have all perks I planned to have endgame but also I'll be able to reach all attributed on 10 in just a few of days. Wouldn't surprise me if by the time I even start the main story I get all possible perks.
I'm already too tough to kill (found heavy combat armor set, basically I can stand at one point and shoot everyone not caring for damage tey do to me, unless bosses with weaponry like minigun with explosive ammo and even that one seems I'll be able not to care about soon).

No, I will not play the game on some nightmare whatnot difficulty. I want a normal game. Not whatever something just because XP gain rate is rediculous.

You're playing a Bethesda game. This can't honestly surprise you, can it?

Well, if he was level 35 after 78 hours 1.5 days ago, I'm guessing joxer is almost at 100 hours and he's surprised to be high level?

This was always the case with Bethesda games.

There are 278 perks or something like that. I'd say there are meaningful perks for most builds for at least 100 levels - and if it's anything like their past games - enemies will continue to scale indefinitely.

Having 11 (impact ceiling) in each SPECIAL stat isn't as powerful as having all the useful perks, I'd say.

So, I think it's a psychological issue more than it's a real problem. People think the game is over at level 50 - but it's not designed that way.

That said, ALL Bethesda games tend to become pushovers long before you reach the end game.

Personally, I'm really pleased with Survival mode after nearly 40 hours. I didn't expect to feel challenged like this.

Beyond that, the game seems to provide meaningful progression that you can genuinely feel for well past 150 hours.

How many singleplayer games can claim that again?

Also, btw, each point of intelligence will yield approximately 3% more XP from all sources.

I feel the XP rate is nearly perfect with the mod I'm using.

Our taste differs.
It doesn't lower trashmob killing to 0 or 1 XP so it just can't be perfect for me.

joxer has me on ignore, but maybe one of you can provide him with this link:

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mo…Fid%3D85&pUp=1

There's an optional "no xp for kills" file - but it's experimental and might not work.

Someone suggested you try this mod Joxer: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/85/?

It is experimental though.

I don't need it - while I wouldn't mind a slightly lower level rate I am overall happy with my progression in the game but we have different play styles. I also play very slowly and so my leveling is going very slow

Thanks.
Looks like exactly what I want except it's concentrated on irrelevant stuff that don't grant much XP anyway unless you grind on purpose (crafting and similar) while the noXP on kills is experimental (basically beta) and won't remove the reward from every trashmob. I mean… What's the point of removing XP reward from 5 XP worth mob? Remove it from 50+XP mobs.

Will keep an eye on it, if it exits experimental phase, it'll be perfect!

I remember you saying that you've restarted twice, so I'm assuming that's your total Steam hours and not the hours for just your current character.

Otherwise, I think you might have overdone it.

I'm level 19 after 71 hours, but a lot of that was idle time.

Yep, I've restarted 4 times now It helps massively in not over-leveling! I don't have much idle time, maybe a couple hours where I window out and look at mods or a wiki.
