Xbox to become a PC!
March 2nd, 2016, 16:54
During a press event in San Francisco last week, Spencer said that the Universal Windows Platform, a common development platform that allows apps to run across PC, Xbox, tablets and smartphones, would be central to the company’s gaming strategy
“Windows is a critical franchise. Over 40% of the people running Windows 10 are playing games.http://www.theguardian.com/technolog…nsole-hardware

I seem to recall that they've been saying this for quite some time now.
I don't really see the point to be honest though.

It might be good for PC gamers since we will get more games to play. I think anyway!

If the PC is dead, why are consoles turning into them?

Well, the way I see it, we'll probably have playstation versus Windows in the future if they are really betting on this.
The kind of smart thing about this is that if PS5 is similar to PS4 it is going to take 2-3 years until it is very very outdated as all alternatives can be upgraded.

Speaking of PS4, you can now play PS4 games on PC as well provided you own a PS4! They enabled PC/MAC remote play with the new firmware version.

I take it to mean that there will no longer be Xbox exclusives - only Microsoft exclusives, including Windows. That aspect of it seems like a pretty big deal. I haven't looked into it though, so correct me if that's not what it's about.

This experiment will fail.
People who buy consoles buy those because:
- no OS to wait for, no DRM to wait for, no hassle with anything
- no need for brain in games
- no need to be literate
- mushrooms fetish
They don't want PC.
I've plugged PC into my mother's TV and set it so she could record anything and watch later. I thought it'll be useful because she always complained "I missed this, that". How many times did she actually use what I did? NONE.
Why? Because she wanted TV, not PC.

You have to use a PS4 controller I assume? no K&M support.
Anyway now remote play is here, I am sure some one will hack it so that we can send controller signal with KB + M!

Not sure about the OS (it will probably be different version ofit), but for the games, Microsoft is already releasing Xbox exclusive a few months later on the PC via the Windows 10 Store. The Windows 10 Story is already building itself a reputation as being worst than GFWL though…

Yep. The Windows store appears to be complete ass. In addition to that, I do not trust Microsoft one bit. I used to own AoE III Complete on GFWL. When they dumped GFWL, they dumped my game, too. It is nowhere to be found on my MS account (yes, same e-mail address).
So who is to say that maybe in a couple of years they won't replace the Windows store with something else and dump some games in the process again?
They obviously do not give a shit about the digital property of their customers which is breaking the very first and most basic rule: Trust.
But this is very typical for Microsoft. They have a proven track record of having zero respect for the consumer and their customers.
I will never be using the Windows/MS store for that reason. I have no problem with multiple clients like Battle.net, Origin, Steam, uPlay etc. but the Windows store can go right ahead and jump off a cliff together with anything that has "Xbox" written on it! Do. Not. Want.

GFWL is the only game client I've ever had problems with and they were constant. Almost every game that required it gave me activation issues. Being worse than that is unfathomable. I really hope that's just an exaggeration.

Well I'll stay away from the App Store. Thanks for the heads up. I was skeptical anyway.
