Default Scummvm & Residualvm - Looking to include RPGs

March 3rd, 2016, 00:58
Scummvm (2d games) and Residualvm (3d games) have been known as classic adventure game emulators. But in future they will also allow you to play classic rpgs and are participating in the Summer of Code hoping to attract coders. (Scummvm can already play Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2 by virtue of support for the engine.)

Yesterday, Google announced the list of accepted mentoring organizations and we have the great pleasure to be one of those.

In previous years, we have primarily focused on adventure games. However, after discussing with our sister project ResidualVM, we are happy to announce that, this year, we will also be accepting RPG tasks.

ScummVM and ResidualVM are now waiting for motivated students, willing to work during this summer on reviving adventure and role-playing games.

Be part of it! Make History and join our best GSoC so far! Take a look at our ideas page or bring your own idea, then contact us: we are waiting for you on IRC impatiently!

One place: Freenode. Two channels: #scummvm and #residualvm
More information.

Were any RPG's made with SCUMM?

I remember trying to run the IE games with it on my Androids and not getting very far.

SCUMM is not only about the SCUMM engine - they support games by implementing their scripting engines, so many such modules are available. For instance besides EoB they also support Lands of Lore:
