Total War: Warhammer - Battle Magic Trailer
May 15th, 2016, 06:00
If you're in the mood to add some strategy to your fantasy, Sega's upcoming Total War: Warhammer displays the power of battlefield magic and explains how it works.
<blockquote style="text-align: justify;"> What better way to ease your way into the weekend than with the relaxing sight of jobbing fantasy soliders getting turned into fleshy fireworks? None, is the correct answer. And so to the latest Total War: Warhammer video, which showcases the important role that magic will play in Creative Assembly's upcoming RTS.
Spells are especially powerful when used in combinations, but expending large sums of magical power in single blows isn't without risk. Spells can also backfire, and familiarity with the relevant lore is vital to ensuring that you drop the proper hammer. Each variety of magic has multiple spells to choose from, some of which can be “overcast,” making them even more powerful. But overcasting has dangers, and your caster could end up doing some serious self-harm.
[/quote] More.

I used to love playing new Total War games, but after Creative Assembly was bought by Sega my interest has diminished. It's all about expansions & multiple DLC's now.
Can't wait to buy another blood pack DLC for $1.99 because Sega doesn't want an M rating. Yes you heard me right they cut content to get a different game rating for sales.

I like Total War games, but i wish they had a story. Conquer X number of provinces in X number of turns is not really an attractive goal for me.
One of the benefits of making a Warhammer game is that it comes with an amazing established lore. I enjoyed very much playing Dark Omen and Mark of Chaos because of it.

The publisher might not be working with a model that I wholeheartedly agree with, but this game is a Day 1 purchase for me. It looks fantastic.

The DLC issue is why all release are really release date + 1 year. The game is not only 1/2 to 1/3 the price it includes all the dlc.

So yes you're better off buying the fulll Steam package in a huge sale.

Anyway I'm already playing two good Warhammer conversion mods. So this concept is not new, and CA already confirmed multiple Factions DLCs already.

I've always really wanted to get into the Total War games, because they seem so interesting and flavorful. But I've never been able to, because I've always absolutely hated the combat in those games. I'm not opposed to real time battles, but somehow the ones in total war always seem kind of confusing and tedious to me. Sometimes I wonder if I would like the game more if I just autoresolved all fights, but then interesting mechanics like the magic system discussed here would be irrelevant.
